Chapter 9
On the opposite end of the city, Sebastien was seated in his car, a deep frown etched on his face..
His mind was consumed with racing thoughts, causing a throbbing sensation in his head.
Despite this, he couldn’t shake off the image of Serenity that seemed to linger in his mind. She was finally back in the country. but he didn’t know how to feel about it.
On one hand, he was ecstatic at the thought of being reunited with her. But on the other hand, her sudden departure from their encounter made it clear that she didn’t want anything to do with him. And yet, Sébastien couldn’t bring himself to accept this harsh reality.
He had searched every corner of the world to find her, but now that she was here, she ran away from him like he was some sort of monster, And indeed, he felt like a monster for the way he had scarred her in the past.
Sebastien still couldn’t believe that he was so blind to the truth about his feelings for her and what had happened between her and Ariana
The memory of one of their maids coming to him with a look of fear on her face, handing him her phone to watch the video of Ariana’s fall from those years back flashed through his mind. It was clear that Ariana had intentionally fallen and had even refused Serenity’s help.
Sebastien had also seen and heard the way Ariana had slapped Serenity and hurled insults at her. Yet, Serenity never spoke of the incident to him. It still baffled Sébastien why she never mentioned the insults and slaps from Ariana.
But then, he laughed bitterly at himself. Even if she had told him, he wouldn’t have believed her in the first place back then. He regreted everything he had said and done to Serenity and all he wanted was to ask her for forgiveness. But it seemed like that would be the biggest challenge he would ever face in his entire life,
As his car entered their compound, a little boy, around the age of four or five, ran towards him with a wide smile on his face.
“Daddy” Noah called out as he ran to his father, who eagerly opened his arms to embrace him. All his thoughts and worries faded away as he picked up his son with a smile,
“Hey little man, did you miss Daddy!” Sébastien asked with so much love in his voice, before playfully tickling his son. Noah couldn’t stop giggling as his father continued to tickle him.
“Seb! Thank goodness you have returned home unharmed! I have missed you dearly, exclaimed Ariana as she ran towards
Sébastien.
At the sight of the woman sprinting towards him, Sebastien’s smile disappeared and he stopped playing with Noah, who also seemed frightened by his mother’s sudden appearance.
Ariana arrived at Sébastien’s side and forcefully pulled Noah away from his father, embracing Sébastien as if her entire life depended on it..
“I have missed you immensely, my love,” she said, holding him tightly.
Sébastien’s expression soured as he witnessed Ariana’s rough treatment of their son
Breaking from Ariana’s embrace, Sébastien went to his son’s side. Despite trying to hold back his tears, Noah couldn’t help but cry in pain.
Sebastien’s heart ached at the sight of his son’s distress. He glared icily at Ariana, causing her to shrink back in fear.
“Come here, buddy! Sebastien said, picking Noah up.
But as soon as his father’s hand touched a specific part of his body, Noah flinched in pain as if he had touched a bruised area.
Concern etched on his face, Sébastien asked his son, “Noah, buddy, what’s wrong? Do you feel any pain?”
Before Noah could respond, Sébastien put him back on the ground and began checking his body.
As he lifted Noah’s shirt, Sébastien’s eyes turned cold at the sight of the purple bruises marring his son’s skin.

His jaw clenched as he gazed at his stoic son, holding back his tears.
Standing up, Sebastien turned his somber gaze to Ariana, who was shrinking away in terror.
Ever since Ariana had kicked Serenity out of the Williams Mansion, she had thought that everything would be fine. But she
was wrong
It was as if Serenity had taken a piece of Sébastien’s soul with her when she left.
Even though Ariana was now engaged to Sébastien, their relationship lacked any genuine love. If it hadn’t been for Ariana’s manipulative tactics to drug him and sleep with him, their son Noah would never have been born.
“Ariana, tell me, what have you done to my son? Sebastien’s voice was ice–cold, causing Ariana’s legs to tremble under her.
“TELL ME! WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY SON?” Sebastien’s voice boomed as he advanced towards her, his hand instinctively reaching for her neck, tightening his grip in a ruthless choke.
“S- Se–Sébastien—“Ariana gasped, struggling to call out his name amidst the suffocating hold.
“I’ve said it before…you can do whatever you want, but never at the expense of those around me. Especially not my Sebastien’s rage flared as he confronted her, his other hand poised to deliver a punishing slap in her face.
y son.”
But in a moment of hesitation, he stopped, a memory flashing before him, making him bring his raised hand down.
Flashback
Serenity was in their bed, munching on chips as she watched a movie. As he entered the room, she scrambled to clean up the mess she had made on the sheets
Sébastien ignored her, as if she didn’t even exist. Until suddenly, he heard Serenity scream.
Turning to her, he saw her fuming at the TV, her face contorted in anger.
Confused. Sébastien asked. “What’s wrong? Why did you scream? Do you think you’re the only one living in this bedroom?” His tone was cold, unforgiving.
But instead of backing down, Serenity met his gaze with defiance, her deep stare making him uneasy.
“What? Why are you looking at me like that?” He demanded.
“Seb, if I ever wrong you someday, promise me you won’t become like that jerk in the movie. Serenity huffed, her cheeks. puffed up in a cute pout that made Sébastien want to pinch them.
“Why? What did he do?” He couldn’t help but ask, intrigued.
“That jerk- that bastard- that asshole that scumbag hit the girl. He slapped apped her right across the face. Can you imagine? I hate men who think it’s okay to hit women.” Serenity’s voice was filled with disgust as she glared at the TV.
Sébastien couldn’t help but chuckle at her passion, her puffed–up cheeks only adding to her adorability.
Serenity’s head snapped to her side upon hearing her husband’s chuckle. It was a rare moment, as it was the first time she had heard him laugh since their marriage
“Seb, did you just laugh?” she asked, pleasantly surprised
Sébastien immediately wiped the smile off his face, replacing it with a frown. “What nonsense are you going on about?” he retorted, attempting to brush past her and head to the bathroom, Serenity stood in his way, grinning in an utterly adorable
“Seb, did I make you laugh? Tell me!” she persisted, childlike in her excitement.
Despite wanting to stay mad, Sebastien couldn’t resist the charm on her face and merely snorted before making his way to the

While he was in there, he could hear his wife jumping with joy at her accomplishment of making him laugh.
As Sébastien looked at himself in the mirror, he couldn’t help but chuckle once more.
End of flashback.
Sébastien let go of Ariana’s neck and picked up Noah. Without a word, he went inside the house, leaving Ariana behind.
She was coughing and trying hard to fill her lungs with deep breaths, terrified and filled with hatred towards him.
Upon entering the house with Noah in his arms, Sébastien’s mother greeted him with a smile, holding a plate of fruits in her hand. After all, it had been over two months since he had been away.
“Welcome back, son! Oh… why do you look upset?” she asked, noticing the cold glare directed towards her from her son, though he remained silent.
“Just ask the maids to bring my food to my study,” Sébastien said coldly before leaving the licing room with his son quietly resting in his arms.
His mother stood there, unsure and confused about what had transpired.
“Did he fight with Ariana again? But so soon after his return from abroad… what could she have done to upset him this time around she pondered, lost in thought.
Sébastien immediately changed his outfit into casual attire before settling onto the small bed and positioned himself and his son Noah onto his lap.
“Nach, my dear boy. What made your mother hit you? Sebastien inquired gently, not wanting to frighten his son.
Upon hearing his father’s tender and caring tone. Naoh began sobbing uncontrollably as he clung tightly to his father’s neck.
“Mama told me not to tell you. But I saw her kissing uncle Charles, and she said she would hurt me more if I tell you anything I don’t like Mama, Daddy!” Nach cried, his sabs so intense that Sébastien’s heart ached and he wanted to destroy everything in the room.
He gave a heavy sigh and consoled his son, urging him to stop crying. “Hush now, my dear. Daddy is here. I won’t leave you alone with her again. I promise” Sébastien spoke soothingly to Naoh, who nodded eagerly as if his father’s words. were his life saving
Meanwhile, Sébastien clenched his fist tightly, his jaw rigid with anger. He would make them pay for this
