Serenity was taken aback by his sudden show of concern and hastily moved away from him.
She was more horrified than grateful. Because the Sébastien she knew would never do such a thing. What has come over him?
She looked at him with wide eyes, wondering what was going on. Why was he behaving as if nothing had ever changed between them? There were unresolved issues and conflicts in their past, yet here he was acting like a caring boyfriend or husband. Something definitely didn’t add up. This situation is making me uncomfortable,” she thought, trying to clear her head.
Sébastien’s heart clenched painfully when she moved away from him. She must hate him that much. What did he expect anyway?
Addressing Sébastien, Serenity expressed, “Uhm. I’m okay. Nothing happened to me. However, we didn’t find anything beneficial at the police station. I believe our investigation must begin with that employee. Only then will we know the next steps.” She said, trying to divert their attention from what just happened.
“Ah! Oh! I see. I’m glad you are okay. Sébastien said, feeling a bit awkward. It’s actually the first time he’s alone with Serenity after six years.
There was so much he wanted to say, but he didn’t know where to start. Many apologies, many confessions, and many more, yet he was afraid to start such kind of conversation with her.
“Ser– Just as he opened his mouth to speak, Serenity cut him off.
“But that’s not the reason why I’m here. What’s happening? Who are those reporters and people crowding outside the entrance! I was only gone for a few hours, and now, the whole office is chaotic,” she exclaimed, feeling a bit frustrated.
She started babbling without even realizing what she was doing.
“What the heck! How is this company full of problems? How could Sébastien even allow that to happen?”
Serenity thought, feeling far from her usual composed and professional demeanor sje put on earlier.
“Look, I know I’ve wronged you badlu, alright. And im sincerely sorry for my past. But you dot have to give me that horrified look. I promise on my life that just would rather due than to do anything you don’t want to.” Sébastien said passed t take in a breath. He run his hands through his hair, feeling frustrated with himself and everything going on.
Serenity’s heart ached a bit seeing him in that way. The Sébastien she knew was never like this. Just what happened to him within these six years?
Seeing the look if pity in her eyes for him, seeing couldn’t help but blurted out his thoughts….
“Okay fine… I didnt mean to scare you earlier. I’m just worried about someone I care about,” he admitted, realizing that his thoughts had always wandered to one person, Serenity.
“I wish I could hug and kiss her, apologize for my past behavior and make things right. But it’s not that simple. It’s not the time for that yet. I need to focus on winning him back, one baby step at a time.” He thought with assurance to himself.
Breaking his train of thought, Sébastien gestured for her to take a seat, which she did.
Seemingly composed, he began speaking. “I took upon myself to victims he hospitalized. Our company is taking care of all their medical expenses.
Well, we can’t blame anyone for the meantime. After all, it’s because of out company products which landed them.in such situation.
I also promised to take care of the victims family members which I did. I gave them a sum of amounts as compensation which they took greedily.
However, a week ago, they started coming here to demand for more money. I did gave them some money again but they never stop coming. I don’t know what exactly they use the money I give them for.
As usual. They’ve come here for money, yet again. It’s not that we’re not taking care of their families medical expenses and

other needs. But every few days, they will come here, demanding money. And this time, they’ve also brought the reporters to make it public.” Sébastien sigh after explaining what’s going on.
Serenity was furious. This is absolutely exploiting. Her anger boiled within her, wanting to break something.
“How can these people he so fake? Their family members are in the hospital, and instead of worrying about their well–being. they come here to demand for money, and not just once, but almost three times within three days? What is happening?” She looked at Sebastian, her expression cold and calculating.
Sébastien shivered under her cold and piercing gaze. He has never seen Serenity like this and it’s shocked and amazed him at the sake time.
“Wh- why that look? What did I do wrong?” Sebastien asked, unsure if what he has done to deserve such bombastic side eye.
“And you also give them money every time they come for it? What is wrong with you? Don’t you know this is against the law?” Serenity said and stood up as she paced around the room while bitting her lips to suppress her anger.
Sébastien looked on with a foolish smile on his face. It seemed he loved it, realizing that he’s finally seeing Serenity show him a different side of herself.
“Calm down first!” He said and also stood up and walked towards her. He wanted to hold her shoulders and tell her that everything would be okay.
However, he held himself back. He knew the time wasn’t right for any skinship between them. He can hold her hand on an impulse, but he can’t touched any part of her body.
There are a lot of unsettled things between them and he didn’t want to ruin things. He had to take things slowly, so he showed her a strong facade and walked behind his table, taking a seat before looking at her.
“What do you think we should do? If we don’t give them the money, they won’t stop coming and causing a commotion.
But we need to make a living. The employees can’t concentrate on their works if we allowed them to stay at the entrance all day.
So all we can do is compensate them each time they come. And that’s what I did. He explained himself with a shrug. Although he knew those people were using their sick family to blackmail him, he still couldnt do anything.
Looking at their current situation, all he could do was to pacify them each time they come.
Immediately after he finished speaking, he noticed Serenity walking out of his office with ferocious expression.
“He seems uneasy.” She thought ti hers. Sébastien can fool anyone that he’s okay. But Serenity knew better than to believe him. He was just putting on a strong facade.
“Since they wants commotion, I will give it to them!” She said as she briskly walked towards the elevator in a large stride as if she were ready to crash the whole world.
Sébastien panicekd and immediately stood up to followed her quickly, worried about what she might do.
He knew that she may appear innocent and naive sometimes, but when she gets serious, things tend to get out of hand pretty badly.
He didn’t want her to make a mistake because of him, especially since she was a top lawyer.
But before he could reach her, it was already too late. The elevator doors had closed.
Sébastien didn’t even wait for it to open again. He quickly took the steps, hoping to catch on to her before any harm could be done.
When he finally reached the last floor, it was already too late. Serenity was standing in front of a crowd with her AR folded on her chest
“My God, I hope this doesn’t turn into a bloodshed.” Sebastian said dramatically.
Alex, who was standing nearby, couldn’t help but observe before saying. “I can assure you there won’t be any bloodshed.

However, we need to find a solution. He gestured towards the gathering crowd.
Sébastien was surprised by his friendly remarks. Were they not rivals? Why would he even speak to him?
“What do you mean? And how are we gonna stop this? I’ve already called the police.” Sébastien said begrudgingly. He didn’t want to converse with Alex under no circumstances.
“Look here, I can assure you that, these people would surely run off by the time she would be done with them.
And don’t forget she’s a lawyer. She can’t do anything stupid while she knows the law. However, I think she’s going to use her mouth and knowledge to beat them up. Alex with his signature smile on his face as he watched on.
Sébastien raised an inquisitive eyebrow, signaling for a more thorough explanation.
However, Alex does not pay him any mind, his attention solely captured by Serenity and what she’s about to do.
Sebastien ignored Alex when he realized the bastard wasn’t going to explain further what he said
Rolling his eyes he kept a vigilant gaze in Serenity’s direction, eagerly awaiting the events that are about to unfold.
But he wasn’t the only one – his entire family and the employees were also watching, anticipating the actions that Serenity will
take next.
Can she really face these people alone?
