Chapter 7
After Lucían left, I had barely slept. His words were constantly replaying in my mind.
His threat, anger, and viciousness made me feel like I had been married to a stranger all these years.
He never loved me, not for a second, and I was sure he would go to any level to make my life difficult.
But this time, I’m not gonna be weak. Whatever comes next, I have to stand firm.
While I was motivating myself, the door creaked open, only to see Lucian entering with cold eyes.
“Selene,” he said in an icy tone. “It’s time we finalize things.”
“Finalize?! What? Break our bond! “I said in the same tone as him.
“Sure, but one more thing before that.”
A man in a tailored suit, holding a briefcase, entered the room, and I watched him with suspicion.
“This is my lawyer and I want you to sign a few papers,” Lucian said.
“What papers?!”
The lawyer had already started walking towards me.
“The transfer of your father’s company’s shares to me,” Lucian said.
The lawyer opened the briefcase and handed me the stack of paper.
I stared at him and then at the paper, dumbfounded.
“Are you fucking out of your mind, Lucian?!” I hissed.
“This is the right thing to do, Selene,” He said in a neutral tone.
“For the pack’s stability and the company’s future, your father had built it with his hard work. Also, I’m the Alpha of our pack. I’m the only legit person to run the assets you inherited.”
I let out a chuckle, making him look at me in confusion.
“What is to laugh about?”
I chuckled again before speaking up.
“Why do you think I’ll just hand you my father’s company, Lucian? After everything you’ve done to me? After
you killed
my
child?”

The lawyer shifted uncomfortably and stared at Lucian in surprise.
“And why only you? It’s my father’s company. He trusted ‘Me‘ with his legacy. I will run it.”
Now it was his turn to let out a crocky laughter.
“Do you really think you can manage a business of that scale, Selene?” He taunted.
“You don’t know the ABCD of the business. Do you think you can handle the well- established company? You can’t, Selene. Don’t be the reason to bring your father’s hard work into the drain.”
“Be it, Lucian. It’s my company. Whatever happens to it, that’s none of your business.” I retorted.
“Being your husband, it’s my business, too, Selene.” He said in an irritated tone.
“The company was always going to be part of our legacy together. And this way, offering you the way out. A way to leave the pack without shame.‘
I’m
“Shame?!”
“Yeah, after you leave the pack, this contribution will keep your image intact else, you will be tagged as a shame.”
“Hahaha…As if I care.” I said with contempt.
“Seriously, Lucian, marrying you was my life’s worst decision. Five years ago, you saved me from the rogue was not because you cared for me, right?! But because of my father’s wealth, isn’t it?”
His face darkened. He stepped closer and intimidated me, peering his grim eyes into me.
“Look, Selene, don’t make this harder than it needs to be. If you don’t sign the papers, I’ll make sure the pack knows you’ve abandoned your duty as Luna. They’ll turn against you, and you’ll have nowhere to go.”
Anger bubbled inside me, and I gathered strength before pushing him away.
“Do your worst, Lucian. I’m not signing anything.”
Infuriated, he lost his temper and slammed his fist against the bedside table, making the lawyer flinch.
“You ungrateful little bitch. Don’t forget it was me who saved you five years ago. It was me who avenged your parent’s death,” He said in a low but raspy tone.
“Yeah, but not out of kindness, out of greed. All these years, I endured all your humiliation in silence, thinking I owed you, but all bubbles were busted now.”

I locked his eyes with the same emotion as him and threw the paper at his face.
“Please take your dream papers and fuck off.”
He stared at me, his jaw convulsing, his body trembling with rage.
“You have no idea what you have done, Selene. I swear I will make you regret it.” He growled.
“Bring on, Lucian. I’m waiting!” I said with an air of attitude.
A day later, when I got discharged, I couldn’t help but feel nervous.
My child was gone, my marriage had shattered, my only asset was in trouble, and my future was uncertain.
But there, was one thing I felt good about–Lucian no longer had power over me.
Again, confidence pumped in me, and I hailed a cab. Just then, my phone buzzed into my
purse.
“Can it be Theo?” I asked myself.
Theo had been gone for three days. Naturally, I had no reason to ask him to stay and help me. As a stranger, he had already done enough for me.
A wave of loneliness had washed over me, and I felt his absence.
I pulled the phone from the purse, and it was not Theo, but my father’s company’s marketing manager.
“Yes, Mr. Steven? Any movement from Lucian?” I asked, worrying.
“No, Mrs. Selene, nothing from him, but from someone else.” He said hesitantly.
“I’m not following you.” I asked, confused.
“Today, we received a call from a party.”
“Okay?”
“He is interested in acquiring the company. They’re offering a deal that could secure its legacy.”
“Acquired? You mean he is asking to sell my father’s company?”
“Yes, for double the amount it is worth.”
