“Who is that person? Did you do any background check?” I asked with curiosity and hesitation.
“No, we can’t.” He replied. “He prefers to remain anonymous until he meets you in person.”

I sat down cautiously, my nerves tangled with curiosity.

He sat across from me and held my hands into his.
“I swear, there is no other intention than to give you that is lawfully yours.”
It was difficult to trust the person I barely knew, but his eyes reflected nothing but genuineness.
By the end of the day, We signed the deal.
“By the way, I’ve made sure Lucian gets this news,” Theo said, his lips twisted into a lopsided smile.

“He wouldn’t let me go without a fight. He had warned me. He will not break the mate bond until I don’t sign the papers.”
Theo smirked as he stood up and slid his hands into his pants pockets. His eyes darted at the glass door.

Lucian howled and plunged back onto Theo.
But he dodged away Lucian’s attack and sunk its canine onto his unguarded shoulders.
Lucian shook himself to set free from Theo’s grip.
Before he succeeded, Theo landed another slap, then another slap until Lucian was thrown against the wall.
“Either see yourself bleed to death,” Theo barked. “Or break the mate bond with Selene without any condition.”
“Yes, Lucian. And he is the Alpha of Nightshade pack, Theo Tanner. You think you can fight him?” I added, and Lucian’s facial expression changed.
“Theo Tanner?” Lucian said, his eyes furrowed

Fear and regret flashed across his face as realization struck him.
“If you don’t agree to break the mate bond,” Theo said, his voice as cold as steel.
“I will ensure your bankruptcy. And trust me, I can make that happen with a snap of my fingers.”
Visibly shaken, Lucian took no time to speak words that my ears were yearning to listen.
“I, Lucian, Alpha of Crystal blood moon pack, break the mate bond with my Luna, Selene,” Lucian said, his voice breathy.
Just as he spoke the word, I let out a wail, feeling pain in my entire body.

It was the pain of breaking the mate bond that survived for a few minutes.
While Lucian stormed off, Theo helped me through the pain by keeping me in his arms.
“Selene, join my pack,” Theo said as my pain mellowed
“You don’t need to live as a Rogue. I can offer you safety and a fresh start.”
I peered into his eyes, looking for any deception, but there was none, yet I confirmed.
“Why are you doing all this?” I asked, my voice barely a whisper.
“Because you’re worth it, Miss Selene,” He replied without a thought.
