Chapter 9
Two days later, I went to the villa, which had been my home for five years.
At first, leaving the place felt heavy, but the happiness of freedom was much greater, and it took away all other emotions.
I quickly gathered my belongings and dressed in a sexy bodycon with light makeup before walking out.
But as I descended the stairs, Lucian, who was in the living room, approached me.
“Selene, please, don’t go!” he pleaded, dropping to his knees.
“I’ve realized my mistakes in a hard way. I don’t wanna lose you. Please give me one chance.”
I stared at him with shock and frustration.
“Lucian, you think things that you did to me are easy to forget. No!” I said, walking past
him.
But he rose and again came across me, holding my hands.
“I’ll do anything, Selene, to make you happy,” he said, his voice breaking.
“I will kick the surrogate, and we can have our baby. Only the child you give me will be an heir. I promise. Please give me one last chance.”
“Lucian!” Astra yelled, her eyes wide with fear and disbelief. “What the hell are you talking about?”
The surrogate, with her prominent belly, appeared from the room.
“How can you do that, Lucian? How can you even think of kicking me? The life that is growing inside me is your child too.” She cried,
Lucian’s jaw convulsed. Walking to her, grabbed her arm, and started dragging her towards the door.
“Lucian, what are you doing? Where are you taking me?”
She was panicked and utterly shocked.
“To throw you out. There is no place for you here,” Lucian answered.
“No, please, Lucian, don’t throw me out. Where will I go? I have nowhere to go?” She sobbed.
“I don’t care. All I want is you out of my face. Because of you, I had a misunderstanding with my wife.” Lucian spat.

Oh fuck!! Is he now putting everything on her? Seriously, he is worse than I imagined.
“Lucian, stop!” I called out, my voice firm. “Leave her.”
As much as I despised being part of this mess, I couldn’t stand his cruelty against any
woman.
I walked to them and pulled Astra off Lucian’s grip.
“How inhuman you still can be. You have already killed one child. Don’t be the reason for
Before I could finish, Astra let out a sharp cry. Her hands flew to her belly.
“Oh, her water broke,” I said, stunned.
Water flowed between her legs, and Astra looked down in dread. “Baby is ready to come out.”
“Get the car out, Lucian!” I said with urgency. “Need to take her to the hospital.”
Unmoved, Lucian kept staring at her, and I called him again.
“Fucking, get the car, Lucian.” I hissed.
His trance broke, and he rushed to get the car.
I quickly got Astra into the backseat, and I settled beside her, bearing Astra’s nails digging into my skin whenever painful spasms rippled through her.
“You should have sat with her, comforted her,” I said, addressing Lucian, but he didn’t reply and kept staring blankly ahead on the road.
After reaching the hospital, the hours passed listening to Astra’s screams before she finally delivered a baby boy.
Despite the anger and betrayal I felt, I couldn’t help but feel relieved that the child was safe.
“You should go in and see your son,” I said to Lucian, sitting across from me in complete silence.
When he didn’t react, I reminded him again, and he finally nodded.
He hesitantly entered the room, his lips curving into a small smile as he saw the baby.
But as he moved further, his smile faltered, his brow knitted with doubt.
“This isn’t my child,” he said flatly; his eyes hurt.
Astra’s eyes widened in shock.
“What are you saying? Of course, he’s yours!” Astra debated.

Lucian shook his head, stepping back. “I can smell my bloodline. This child doesn’t carry my scent. He’s definitely not mine.”
I froze, my mind racing, unsure if Lucian was lying or telling the truth.
Astra began to cry, clutching the baby tightly.
“No, you’re lying. You want to get rid of us anyway, isn’t it, Lucian?”
Astra made a valid point, making my doubt even stronger, but Lucian was already walking
out.
“You’ve betrayed me,” he yelled. “This is not my child. You’re nothing but a liar.”
“No, you are a liar.” Astra fought back. “You don’t want me now. You are doing to get back your wife.”
She is right. Lucian is just trying to get rid of them to win me back.
I felt torn between wanting to comfort her and leaving them alone, but I couldn’t.
I can’t turn my eyes away from injustice. It’s a matter of this child’s future.
I quickly followed Lucian.
“Lucian, stop!”
He turned around; his eyes peered into mine with the feeling of betrayal.
“Selene, believe me. I can smell him; he is not mine. She is lying. She is just using me.‘
“Then prove it, Lucian. Honestly, after what you did, I trust her more than you.” I said.
He stared at me in disbelief.
“You say I’m lying?” he questioned.
“Yeah, I think so. If you wanna prove yourself right, why don’t you take a DNA test.”
He considered my words for a moment and nodded.
“If you think I’m lying, I will prove you.”
He went to the doctor and asked her to conduct the DNA test.
