Chapter 45
“Shane, I think Ally felt far too angry. That’s why she intentionally triggered you by hanging out with another man. You two should have a proper chat. I’m sure you guys will be on good terms as before.”
Amber knew exactly what men cared about the most. Hence, she kept bringing up that man to
Shane.
Shane’s gaže turned frosty. He stared at Amber and asked, “What do you know?”
“I was worried about Allison, so I made a call to my friend last night. He happened to know the man Ally was dancing so passionately with. He said…”
“Said what?” Shane gripped Amber’s wrist tightly until he left a red mark.
“That man is a well–known playboy who has attracted many beauties with his good looks. He’s quite good in bed, resulting in many women getting attached to him after having a one- night stand.
“Many women were willing to degrade themselves to become his mistresses. But I’m definitely certain that Allison wouldn’t do anything like that.”
Shane’s features had twisted out of fury. He was definitely thinking about the woman pressing
up against the man’s chest in the footage and how the man’s fingers slowly traced up the woman’s slender waist.
“Oh! Shane, you’re hurting me.”
“Sorry.” Shane released Amber and immediately got out of bed to enter the bathroom.
Amber stared at his back with a gloating smirk.
That day, the two boarded a flight to Kaspore, the neighboring city of Gildford. After arriving at Kaspore, Amber and Shane even had to sit through more than ten hours of a car ride through the mountains before arriving at Gildford.
The footage must have triggered Shane quite a bit. As a man who was used to a life of luxury, he had chosen to travel on the road so he could find me immediately.
I sat in the passenger’s seat with my legs crossed while admiring the breathtaking mountain. scenery and making fun of him.
All Shane had to do was have someone look into my boarding records, and he would find out that I never even went to Gildford..
in the
He trusted Amber so much that he never once suspected she was leading everyone in the wrong direction from the start.
I didn’t get to see this scenery when I was alive. But thanks to Shane, I got the chance to
2/2
admire it after my death.
The sunset faded behind the mountains, leaving no light at all. There weren’t many cars on the road, nor were there any street lights. It was pitch black outside. Once in a while, they would see a crow flying past them.
‘Shane, I’m terrified.” Amber took the chance to bury herself in Shane’s embrace.
Devon drove on without even casting a glance at them. After finding out about their relationship, he had been treading on eggshells at every moment.
Meanwhile, I was extremely relaxed. I was even trying to guess what Amber’s next move would be in this game of chess. What was she and my murderer truly up to?
I was even delighted to see how Amber tricked Shane as if he were a child.
On the way, I kept imagining countless possibilities, such as how Amber and Shane might even end up in a car accident in the wilderness.
Unexpectedly, nothing happened throughout the night. The next day, the car arrived at Gildford early in the morning.
Shane didn’t sleep at all the entire night, causing him to have bloodshot eyes. The closer they got to Gildford, the more upset he seemed to be.
Amber gave the address of the rented house my relatives found for me back then. The car headed for the destination right away.
Once at the alley, Shane ditched Amber as he strode to the house. If I hadn’t seen what happened last night, I really would have thought he was really worried about me.
There was no response after knocking on the door, so Shane violently kicked the wooden door down straight away.
“Allison!” Shane yelled crazily. There were two pieces of men’s clothing scattered in the living room. There was even a pair of worn men’s slippers at the entrance.
Shane was more furious than ever. His gaze was fixed on the tightly shut bedroom door before kicking it open.
