Chapter 72
Amber put on a sheepish, troubled expression. “What did you say? Are you sharing your stocks with me? I don’t think it’s a good idea. All I want is my family’s love. Stocks are of no use to me,” she said.

“What a lovely child! Of course, we love you. Take those stocks. Think of it as our way making up for your years of surviving out there. I heard you had a tough time growing up, Archer remarked.
“It’s all in the past.” Amber shook her head. “You make me the happiest woman in the world. with the love you’ve shown me. But Ally will be upset to learn about the stocks when she’s
back.”
“Why would she be upset? We willingly transferred our stocks to you, and that’s none of her business, especially when she didn’t contribute to the family business.”
“Mom, you are so nice to me.” Amber leaned against Mom. A tiny smirk appeared on her lips. when no one was watching. I could tell she had orchestrated the stock transfer as well.
I failed to understand Amber’s motive. She had won Shane’s affection and became the golden child at home. She literally only needed to ask Mom for an 80–million–dollar jewelry set, and Mom would give it to her. Besides, she was sitting atop of wealth.
Why would she covet the stocks? Firstly, she eyed Grandma’s stocks. Later, she set her eyes on my dad and brother’s stocks.
I thought things would come to an end after my death, but I had a bad feeling now. Amber wasn’t just looking to kill me. She seemed to be cooking up a much bigger storm, which might or might not involve the Schultz and the Lundberg families.
I pondered desperately, “Amber Schultz, what are you up to?”
“I’ll
get
the lawyer to sort things out tomorrow. Rest early today, Abbie. All you need is to sign the papers when the paperwork is done.”
“Thanks, Dad.”
“Silly child. You don’t have to thank me. We’re all family. Just think of the stocks as our wedding gift to you in advance!”
Amber handed the bowl of soup to Mom again. “Mom, the soup has cooled down. You can
drink it now.”
“Good girl.”
I tried vehemently to stop them. “Don’t drink that! Please don’t!”
Since no one could hear me, I watched on helplessly as Mom drank the soup in the bone china

bowl that was made with my ashes.
After that, Amber offered the soup to Dad and Archer, but they declined it.
Mom teased, “You should drink the soup. It’s Abbie’s love. You won’t have a chance to after
she marries.”
“That makes sense. Alright, give me some of that soup.”
My family got along merrily without me, which only made me feel like an outcast.
Heartbroken, I wandered out of the Schultz residence, hoping to look for my remaining body
parts. I knew my skin had been peeled off and made into a human skin book, and my ashes were ground into powder. So, what happened to my flesh?
Did Amber feed the strays with my flesh, or did she mince it up and toss it into the underground sewer?
was I I opened my eyes again and saw a dark sky with clapping thunder. I was not indoors. So, outside? Had I found where I was buried?
Elated, I scanned my surroundings to identify the location. It was yet another familiar place. Behind me stood the newlywed home I shared with Shane.
I thought in a panic, “This is not right. Why am I here? Did they bury me at my newlywed home? Such audacity!”
I spent a lot of time renovating my newlywed home. Harboring a love for gardening, I had grown countless plants and flowers in the fertile soils of the garden and backyard even before I moved in.
A thought struck me. Could they have used my flesh as fertilizer?
