Chapter 81
Shane leisurely finished the bun before speaking.
“More than ten people. Some offered money to franchise his brand. Others proposed expanding his shop. Some even tried to buy the recipe for a high price.
“In recent years, with the rise of live streaming, manufacturers approached him to mass- produce and sell the buns online, offering better and better deals. Yet, he still refuses. He sticks to his limited daily sales.”
“Shane, how do you know all this?” Amber’s panic was becoming evident.
“Because your sister used to love eating his buns. I once offered an astronomical price for a franchise, and even then, he didn’t budge.
“Many others have tried over the years. So, tell me, why would he make an exception for you and hand over his recipe so easily?
“Also, making buns may look simple, but from kneading and fermenting the dough to preparing the filling, do you know how many steps are involved? It takes years of experience to perfect the technique.
“How could you possibly learn it? Just by relying on that mouth of yours?”
I had to say Shane was on fire today. It was like he borrowed my sharp tongue!
Although I was already dead, hearing those words still gave me a rare sense of satisfaction.
Having been caught red–handed by Shane, Amber’s expression clearly fell. Her tears quickly welled up again, trembling in her eyes and ready to spill over.
“Shane, I’m sorry. I really wanted to learn, but just as you said, he refused to sell me the recipe. So… I lied.”
Shane quietly studied her, his gaze filled with disbelief.

“Then, tell me, even if you said you bought the recipe, do you think I wouldn’t eat the buns? Why did you have to lie?”
“Shane, I’m sorry. I’ll never lie again. Please forgive me. I only did it because I care so much about you…”
She clutched her chest in a dramatic display of distress, looking pitiful beyond words.
However, Shane remained unmoved. “I’m curious. If you’re willing to lie about something so trivial, what else have you lied to me about?”
Amber’s wide eyes exuded pure innocence. “There’s nothing else, Shane.”

Shane responded with a cold laugh. “Amber, I’ll ask you one last time. How did you fall down the stairs that day at the coffee shop?
“Think carefully before you answer. Even if the surveillance footage is gone, I’ve found witnesses. Don’t forget, it wasn’t just the two of you there that day.”
I could see Amber starting to panic. She was clearly weighing her options, unsure whether Shane was bluffing.
“What’s wrong? Afraid to answer me?”
He stood up and grabbed her chin. “Because the truth is, you didn’t fall because Ally pushed you. You deliberately threw yourself down the stairs before I arrived!”
Amber shook her head vehemently. “No, Shane, I didn’t… I didn’t!”
“Not only that, but Ally’s passport. Did you hide it? She clearly purchased a plane ticket but ended up taking a boat instead. Why would you do that?”
“No, Shane! There must be some misunderstanding. I really don’t know anything about Allison’s passport!”
Shane had no concrete evidence for these accusations. They were purely his own deductions At the same time, Amber refused to admit anything.
He pointed toward his office suite. “Fine. You keep claiming you don’t want to come between Ally and me, so why are your personal belongings scattered all over every corner? Where are the things that originally belonged to her?”
