Chapter 84
Shane truly intended to draw a line with her decisively and cleanly. Every word he said was cold and merciless.
Watching this scene, I didn’t feel even a shred of joy, I only found it utterly ridiculous.
So, it turned out that when a man wanted to sever ties, he could never possibly fail to do so.
Look at him now. He spoke with such certainty and didn’t leave Amber the slightest chance.
Yet, something this simple had dragged on between us for years, with me constantly caught in a cycle of pain and heartbreak.
He chose to hurt me repeatedly, deflecting the blame onto me and accusing me of being petty and overly sensitive.
The colder he was toward Amber now, the more it made my past self look like a complete fool.
What was I to him, really?
Amber probably had the same thoughts.
No matter how she treated me, at least she had truly poured her heart into Shane. In the end, she was met with this kind of ending. How could she accept it?
As a woman, I understood her all too well. She had calculated every step, deliberately driving a wedge between me and Shane, slowly encroaching on my place in his heart.
She had aimed to take my position from the very beginning.
Now, with his words reducing her to nothing more than a sister, all her years of effort were wasted.
“Shane, what am I to you?” she asked.
Shane replied, enunciating each word, “From now on, you’re just a sister. Don’t come here anymore. It’s inappropriate. I don’t want your sister to see it and feel upset.”
“Sister?” She sneered. “Do you really think my sister will ever come back?”
My heart clenched. She did know something. But would she actually reveal it to Shane?
Shane’s sharp gaze locked onto her. “What are you talking about?”
“Shane, I know you’ve been searching for my sister’s whereabouts these past few days. I want to find her as much as you do. But all evidence now suggests that she’s been abducted and sold
overseas.”
Amber wiped the tears off her face, a cold smile tugging at her lips. “Shane, you’re not a child anymore. You should know what kind of places those scam operation centers are.

“Women are the most pitiful there, especially beautiful women. I’m afraid that by the time my sister boarded the ship, she was already being treated like a toy.”
“Shut up!” Shane’s expression turned ice cold as he glared at her. “How do you know this?”
“I asked around, of course. Shane, do you know what riding the train means? Do you know what happens to women who refuse to do this kind of work?
“Don’t be naive. Allison is so beautiful. She’s probably been through hell by now.”
A loud smack echoed in the room as Shane’s hand landed heavily across her face. “I told you to shut up. Didn’t you hear me?”
