Chapter 95
At that point, Grandma did not believe Amber. She balled up her fists, revealing the blood vessels on the old, bark–like skin on the back of her hands.
She suppressed the rage in her. “Amber, I don’t care what your goal is. I gave you the shares you wanted. I’m not asking for much. Just bring Ally back. This joke isn’t funny at all!”
“Joke?” Amber took out her phone. “Do you really think I’m joking with you? Well then, have a good look and see how your granddaughter was skinned.”
As she flipped through the photos, she recounted, “By the way, you still don’t know when she died, right? It’s on her wedding night. She traveled alone, heartbroken, to Riverside. There, she got stabbed twice, hitting her vitals. Her body fell by the river and left a huge puddle of blood on the ground.
“She even called Shane right before she died. At that time, Shane was watching fireworks with me. Later on, her blood slowly drained from her body. She struggled to reach her phone. I guess she was trying to say goodbye to you. It’s a shame she died before she could reach her phone.
“Her corpse was retrieved. In order to ease her skinning process, we applied a layer of special oil all over her corpse. Here, have a look.”
The photo on Amber’s phone showed that snowy night. There I lay, alone by the river, with a bright red pool of blood under my wedding gown in stark contrast.
Adding to the irony, there was a resplendent show of fireworks being lit on the other side of the river, lighting up the horizon in that instant, along with that face of mine that would
never wake up again.
I didn’t think I would see the last moments of my life on Amber’s phone.
The next photo was me being covered in the special oil, lying naked on a stone slab.
Tears gushed out of Grandma’s eyes. She could not believe that her beloved granddaughter would leave this world in such a terrible manner without even the chance to say goodbye to
her.
After that were the photos of the skinning process. After just one brief glance, Grandma waved the walking stick in her hand at Amber’s head.
“You murderer! You’ll die a terrible death!”
She was advanced in age, after all. Even though she was striking with all the strength she could muster, Amber easily avoided it, causing Grandma to miss.
“Grandma!” I yelled.

That was a strike with all her strength. Without anything in the way, she fell straight to the
floor.
I tried to hold her.
The strong wind ruffled the hair around her temple.
Grandma’s body passed right through my arms, crashing straight to the floor.
There was a loud thud.
“Grandma, are you alright?”
I kneeled down beside her, wanting to check on her. I was panicking, and my body trembled violently.
“Help! Someone, please help!” I yelled at the top of my lungs.
Amber walked toward Grandma. I wanted to grab her. “You devil! Get lost! Go away!”
She stood calmly before Grandma, her eyes showing no sympathy for the elderly at all. There was only hate.
“Does that hurt? This is only the beginning, old hag. This is what the Schultzes owe me!”
“What do you want?” Grandma bellowed, her face covered in tears.
She noticed that something wasn’t right and started yelling, “Help! Someone, please help!”
Grandma was unable to walk. She could only slowly crawl toward her phone. Just as she was about to reach her phone, Amber planted a foot on her hand.
