I then turned and walked upstairs. Hansel tried to follow me, but Nara grabbed his arm to stop him.
He looked back at Nara’s face, which appeared innocent yet harbored such malice. Her earlier words began replaying in his mind, fueling his anger further.
In a flash of frustration, he slapped Nara hard across the face and said in a voice filled with disappointment, “I’ve tolerated you endlessly out of respect for your parents. Why do you still insist on provoking Amber?”
Nara, who had never been hit by Hansel before, burst into tears and screamed, “Hansel Lennox, you bastard! I’m your wife now, and Amber is nothing but a disgraceful mistress! I’ve been more than gracious not to have her murdered!”
Hansel’s expression remained icy as he replied, “Enough! For the sake of the child, I won’t make things even more difficult for you. Now, scram!”
Nara started to argue, but Hansel cut her off impatiently. “Right now! Immediately!”
Her eyes reddened with fury, but she still reluctantly left. Once she was gone, Hansel hurried upstairs, but I had already locked the door behind me.
He tried speaking gently, “Amber, open the door. Let’s talk, okay?”
I replied coldly, “Hansel, I’m very tired today and don’t want to talk. Come back tomorrow.

Thinking that I hadn’t completely shut him out, Hansel sighed in relief. He was about to say more when his phone rang.
I guessed Nara had probably told on him again. Sure enough, after answering the call, he left in a hurry. After he was gone, I sent a message to Sebastian, “Pick me up tonight.”
Sebastian then responded with a single paragraph and a photo of Ezra at the airport. “Wait for me.”
Later that evening, I set the villa ablaze and slipped out amidst the chaos to get into
Sebastian’s car.
As he drove, Sebastian said calmly, “I’ve arranged for someone to dress like you and jump into the lake. Hansel will soon receive the news of your death.”
There was a sincere smile on my face for the first time in a long while. It was finally over.
Sebastian frowned and said, “You didn’t have to fake your death. I told you that I can protect you.”
I shook my head and smiled. “No. Only in death can I make Hansel never forget me and

ensure he and Nara torment each other endlessly.”
Pausing for a moment, I looked at him and said softly, “Besides, how else can I justify the suffering I endured in my past life if I simply walk away from him?”
Sebastian slammed on the brakes in shock. He stared at me with a flicker of panic in his eyes and asked, “What… What are you talking about?”
Instead of answering, I looked at him with red rimmed eyes and asked, “Sebastian, how did you die in your past life?”
He tried to brush me off, but I pressed on with certainty, “You must have been reborn on the same day as me, right? That’s why you canceled your plans to fly to Autlia to change my
fate.
“You originally wanted to stop my wedding, but instead, you ended up saving my life. Am I right?”
Sebastian was silent for a moment before nodding slowly. “Yes, you’re right. I thought Hansel was the one who had been reborn, which is why this life turned out differently.
“I never expected that you were the one who had come back.”
As he spoke, his eyes reddened, and he became choked up. “I’m so sorry. In our past lives, I went to Autlia deliberately to avoid all the news about you.
“I thought you’d be happy marrying him, but I never imagined… I never imagined he would hurt you this badly.”
I reached out to ruffle his hair gently and said in a soft voice, “Why are you apologizing? It wasn’t your fault. It was mine for choosing the wrong person.” >
Sebastian shook his head as tears rolled down his cheeks. Even so, my instincts told me he

His voice trembled as he replied, “When I heard about your death, I lost all will to live. I somehow let go of the steering wheel while I was driving, and…”
A sharp pain tore through my chest. I hadn’t expected him to be so foolish as to die for me. At that point, we hadn’t even been in each other’s lives anymore.
I murmured, “Why? I wasn’t worth it.”
