simply put her own name on it, blatantly claiming it as hers.
I sneered. “Do the higher–ups know about these despicable tactics of yours?”
“Yvonne, what are you saying? You’re the one who didn’t complete your internship tasks, and now you’re trying to slander the company?
Fiona chimed in, even shoving my shoulder. “You’re just jealous of Tiffany’s brilliant proposal!”
Their blatant sophistry almost made me explode with anger. Just as I was about to retort, the conference room door suddenly swung open.

The general manager, Johannes Chode, walked in.
I froze for a moment. Did Dad send him here?
But it seemed I was overthinking it.
Johannes was merely here to offer congratulatory remarks to the interns. He was just going through the motions.
“Who’s Tiffany?” he asked as soon as he entered.
Looking a bit confused, Tiffany slowly stepped forward. “That’s me.”
“I’ve reviewed your proposal. It’s excellent. You’re a promising talent. I look forward to your future development.”
“Thank you, Mr. Chode!”
Since when did plagiarists deserve compliments?
“And who do we have here?” Johannes glanced at me with a puzzled expression and then turned to Garreth.
“Here’s what happened. This person didn’t pass the internship because she caused rumors in the company regarding personal matters during her internship and failed to submit her proposal on time. She was making a scene,” Garreth explained.
Johannes turned to me with an air of seasoned authority. “Young lady, you’ll have plenty of opportunities in the future.”
“What if I submit my proposal now?” I asked.
I hadn’t mentioned it earlier because I knew that even if I handed it in, my proposal would never be properly reviewed with Garreth and Tiffany involved.
Johannes raised an eyebrow. “If you’ve already completed it, why didn’t you submit it within the deadline? It’s too late now.”
At that moment, his secretary barged in anxiously.
“Bad news, Mr. Chode! There was a decimal point error in the submitted proposal. Thankfully, we noticed it in time. The company could have faced losses in the tens of millions otherwise.”
“What?” Johannes‘ eyes widened, his gaze sharp as he turned to Tiffany. “As an employee, didn’t
you check for such a basic error before submission?”
“I…” Tiffany stammered, clearly not expecting this move from me. She immediately tried to shift the blame. “Yvonne did the proposal! I trusted her and submitted it without checking.”

Garreth chimed in, “Yvonne, how dare you jeopardize the company’s interests to set up your colleague? Do you realize you could face legal action if the company incurs losses?”
Tiffany pretended to wipe her tears. “Yvonne, why would you do this to me?”
“Set her up? I have a recording as proof. You forced me to hand over the proposal, pretending it would be a collaboration. Would this mistake have happened if you had checked the proposal?”
I pulled out my phone and played the recording. Watching their stunned, speechless faces, I stepped forward to stand before Johannes.
