Rosette seemed to have lost it. She clenched the knife in her hand and started walking towards me with a sinister smile.
“I hate you! I finally got you two to get a divorce. Why must you show up now? I was already talking to Leo about the wedding. I was so close to climbing into the upper class of society. Why must you keep haunting me like a ghost?”
I had already planned for the worst and was unfazed by the knife. “You’re the one who killed my daughter and now you’re playing the victim. A vicious woman like you will never find happiness.
“You wouldn’t even spare a child that is barely an adult yet. Have you no conscience at all? You are destined to fail, destined to be looked down on by everyone! You are the scum of society and belong in the underbelly. You should have never seen the light of day!”
I gestured at the phone I had placed right next to the vase by the entrance. “The moment I came in here, I had already started a live broadcast. The entire world has seen what you truly are. There is no coming back from this for you, it’s over!”
Rosette abruptly turned toward the phone.
I seized the moment to rush forward and grab her hand. Biting down on her wrist, I tried to wring the knife away from her.
She was furious and howled, “Clarice, you lied to me!”
She released the knife which then dropped to the floor and bounced underneath the tea table.
Both of us leaped after the knife at the same time.
