Chapter 9
Without a second thought, William booked the earliest flight and headed straight to the location.
Hannah was living it up at the bar when William’s sudden appearance surprised her.
William cut straight to the chase. “Where’s Hazel?”
Hannah, unaware that he knew the truth, kept up her act.
“What are you talking about? I don’t know!”
William had no patience for games and laid out everything his investigation had uncovered.
The twin sisters, his parents not seeing him recently, his strange behavior lately and the debt collectors–he spelled it all out.
Under his relentless questioning, Hannah realized William already knew everything.
By now, William had shared all the information he’d gathered.
When Hannah remained silent, he reached out and gripped her throat tightly.
“I’ll ask you again! Where is Hazel?”
Hannah struggled to force out a few words through her throat.

William’s grip suddenly went slack, allowing Hannah to gasp for
air.
“That’s impossible! You’re lying!”
He couldn’t accept this reality, shouting at the top of his lungs.
As if his screaming could somehow turn Hannah’s words into lies.
“It’s true. Her body has been in the morgue this whole time.”
“You’re still lying to me!”
“She died from excessive blood loss. The doctors couldn’t save her.”
“You’re making this up!”
“She died two months ago, on the evening of June eighteenth.”
“No! That’s not true! It can’t be!”
William refused to accept Hannah’s words despite denying reality.
Deep down, he had already started believing her as she kept revealing more details.
Especially since he had argued with her on the very night she died.
Perhaps he couldn’t face his guilt. If he hadn’t fought with me, if he had worried about my safety just a bit

Hannah remained persistent, ignoring William’s interruptions.
She was determined to tell him everything, even if she had to break it down piece by piece.
The private room fell into a long silence.
The quiet was broken only by William’s sobs.
He was crying uncontrollably now, like a child who had lost their most precious toy.
