His soft voice shocked me.
Brenda was confused, and repeated herself,
“Mark, she hurt me.”
“Brenda.”
Mark looked at her and gave her some
money.
He was cold.
“Go to the hospital. I don’t have time to deal
with you right now.”
Brenda didn’t leave, and didn’t take the
money.
She grabbed Mark’s arm.
She thought that would work on Mark.
But Mark pushed her away.
Brenda fell down and teared up.
