Chapter 17:
Facing James who was nearly out of control, Emma became surprisingly calm. “James, if you don’t stop now, I have a hundred ways to make you regret it.”
A clear threat.
James’s shoulders shook, tears welling in his eyes.
Emma stepped closer, continuing, “Let go, James. I don’t want to make a scene
here.”

He released Luke and stood up, trying to take Emma’s hand.
Emma stepped back, coldly pulling away.
“I told you there was no rush to see me,” Emma met James’s tearful eyes with ice-
cold words.
James couldn’t hold back anymore and broke down crying.
“Why are you doing this to me? Why are you suddenly leaving me?”
He cried like a helpless child who’d made a mistake.
Emma thought James probably didn’t know she was there the night he proposed
to Lucy.
Emma didn’t want to explain. Since they were heading for divorce anyway, explanations would only lead to more drama.
She looked down, saying quietly, “Tell your sob story to the police.”
Soon, ambulances and police cars arrived. Luke was taken away, James was
arrested, and Emma had to give a statement.
She told the police everything truthfully and was released within two hours. But right outside the police station, she saw Lucy.
Lucy stood shivering in the cold wind, tears in her eyes.
Emma planned to ignore her like air.
But Lucy blocked her path, demanding, “James is like this because of you, and your feel no guilt? How can you be so cruel?”
Emma’s eyes fell on Lucy’s engagement ring.
She really did love enough, Emma thought, but sadly, she loved the wrong person.

James wasn’t worth loving.
Emma smiled coldly, “Yes, I’m cruel. He’s better suited for you. Let him marry you.” Emma knew exactly where to strike – Lucy had been with James for so long but still
had no official status.
James would even fight other men because of Emma. Lucy understood James still cared most about Emma. But she wouldn’t give up, wanting to fight for herself.
Emma stared at her pretty face and continued, “We’ll be divorced soon. Whether
James ends up with you afterward isn’t my concern. Instead of questioning me,
think about what your fans would do if they found out you’re a homewrecker.” During this conversation, Emma saw Sarah’s car nearby and walked toward it. Emma stopped and turned back, adding, “Also, what do you think James’s reaction. would be if he knew you called me to your proposal scene that night?”
Lucy was furious but didn’t dare speak.
Emma got in the car, and Sarah asked concernedly, “Darling, are you okay?” Emma sighed, “I’m going back to China first. James is desperate to see me, so
London isn’t safe right now. I’ll go back, and when he follows, we can finalize the
divorce.”
Sarah agreed and decided to go with her.
They rushed to leave before James could get out of police custody.
When their plane landed, less than five days remained in the divorce cooling–off
period.
Emma couldn’t go to the Foster home, fearing her family would find her, so she stayed at Sarah’s place.
Emma started booking an appointment at the civil affairs office for the divorce. As
if fate was helping, She found a cancellation slot.
In just three days.
