Chapter 23
Emma returned to Sarah’s home.
The Foster family matriarch’s funeral would take several days, forcing Emma to delay the divorce.

During these days, James was recovering at home. His injuries were serious, and he initially needed a wheelchair to move around.
When he discovered Emma hadn’t blocked him, James started sharing everything one–sidedly.
From his daily medical updates to new flowers arriving at the Foster home he shared every little detail.
Just like when they first got together.
But Emma wasn’t the same eighteen–year–old anymore.
Finding it annoying, she muted his messages.
She was busy planning to buy a small house in London and had no time for James’s attempts at reconciliation.
Unexpectedly, Lucy, who had been quiet, suddenly reappeared.
That evening, Emma was working on design drafts while Sarah ate dinner. Suddenly, Sarah shouted: “Emma, quick, check social media! Lucy’s gone crazy!” Emma raised an eyebrow and opened the website.
The top trending topic read: “Singer Lucy Hayes admits being mistress, fights with
ex–sponsor.”
Emma quickly clicked the link, seeing Lucy’s original post.
She’d detailed everything being kept by a sponsor, James pursuing her, spending lots of money on her.
Chat logs, bank transfers – countless records.
She even posted a high–resolution photo of the engagement ring.
But now, Lucy had been inexplicably dumped.
James had given her only $5,000 as a parting payment.
Emma remembered when James was most infatuated with Lucy, he’d write million-
dollar checks easily. But when dumping her, he left only $5,000.

Seeing all this now, Emma felt nothing. She calmly read to the last image.
Lucy claimed she’d bravely followed love to London but was insulted and beaten by
Emma.
Lucy’s description was vivid, as if Emma had actually attacked her.
Emma realized what Lucy was trying to do.
Since she couldn’t get anything in the end, she’d drag everyone down with her.
Emma didn’t care how Lucy smeared James, but now Lucy was spreading lies about
her, and some die–hard fans were planning to cyberbully Emma.
Intense anger surged through her..
She stood up, gathering her things to go to the Foster home.
Sarah worried: “Emma, is it really good to go now?”
Emma looked indifferent: “We’re getting divorced anyway. I don’t mind if things get uglier.”
Ignoring Sarah’s protests, she drove straight to the Foster mansion.
Coincidentally, James was opening the door. Seeing Emma, he could hardly believe
his eyes.
“Emma, why are you here? Great, I was just about to find you…”
James’s leg injury hadn’t fully healed; he limped as he walked.
He stumbled forward, trying to hug Emma.
But Emma didn’t give him the chance.
She turned away, skillfully avoiding him.
James’s smile froze. Seeing Emma’s cold expression, he carefully asked: “You know. everything?”
Seeing James didn’t want to beat around the bush, Emma spoke directly: “Your mistress is spreading lies about me. What are you going to do about it?”
James got emotional: “Emma, ignore her. She’s just a self–important tramp. Listen, eighty percent of what she posted is fake. She’s making things up. She came after me, I didn’t chase her. She just reads too many romance novels…”
