Chapter 28
As soon as Aurora arrived at Astrait University, she got a call from William, asking her to go to his office.
Before long, she stood outside
e his office door and gave it a knock. She entered when she heard him call out to her.
William was sitting at his desk. When he saw her walk in, a warm and imiting smile spread across his face.
“Ah, Professor Reed, you’re here!”
Aurora nodded politely. “Good moming, Chancellor Payne. What can I do for you?”
“Come, take a seat,” he gestured to the chair across from him.
She walked over and sat down.
The secretary soon brought a cup of tea and placed it in front of her.
William reached into his desk drawer, pulled out an envelope, and handed it to Aurora. His tone was serious, but there was also a touch of restrained excitement
and admiration.
“This is your official appointment letter and materials from the Academy of Sciences Department of Physics. Also, this is the key to your new office. We’ve arranged a higher–level lab for you, and the team there is top–notch. Congratulations, Professor Reed.”
Aurora’s stunning but cold face softened slightly as she accepted the envelope. “Thank you, Chancellor Payne
“Don’t mention it. This is well–deserved. I know that the reason you chose Astrait University over Joloria is partly because of this, right?”
Aurora nodded. “Astrait University and the Academy of Sciences are better suited for my research. It’s better to choose what fits me.”
William smiled knowingly. “So, you’ve been set on this path from the start?”
“Yes.”
“Aurora’s answer was firm and clear.
William sighed, his expression tinged with concem. “But this path won’t be easy, you know. It’s tough, dry, and boring. Why this? Even if you stick with it, there might not be any great rewards.”
“Some things need to be done. Although we’ve made strides in quantum physics over the years, there’s still a gap compared to the leading research abroad,”
As she spoke, her eyes seemed distant. She was lost in thought.
“Honestly, humanity is pretty insignificant. Everything we have today–all the good things we enjoy–comes from countless pioneers who struggled and overcame hardships to build it piece by piece. Maybe that’s what gives this otherwise ordinary life a little meaning ”
Aurora seemed remarkably calm and clear–headed as if she had always known exactly what she was after.
William chuckled softly, nodding with approval. “Young people like you, with such determination, are rare. Our country really needs more talents like you. Your know, modern physics has always been a weak spot for us. It was only because of the perseverance and vision of our predecessors, who stayed focused on the country, that we’ve made it this far. It hasn’t been easy…”
William was someone deeply devoted to his country, and he cared for his students. He was well–liked and respected as a leader. As he spoke about the development of modem physics in the country, his voice trembled with emotion
“Our country has lost too many of our best talents over the years! So many top–tier experts leave and don’t come back. Even many of our Astralt University students…”
His voice grew heavy with regret, tinged with a sense of lost opportunity.
