Chapter 31
Aurora quietly stared at the frail old man before her, a strange feeling of melancholy settling in her chest. How could she possibly explain the true nature of Whitney and the others?
as without the Klein
Even if she did, he’d probably just think it was normal. After all, in the eyes of the Klein family, Aurora wouldn’t have gotten to where she was Tamily’s help. Bryce probably thought the same way.
andpa, you knew I wasn’t really biologically related to the Kleins, right? So when they found Whitney, you weren’t surprised at all, were you?” Aurora asked
we tell silent for a moment, then sighed. “The Klein family can afford to take you in. What more is there to it?”
since you went looking for the real Klein heiress, do you know anything about my real parents?”
Autora wanted to know the truth. Even though she and Whitney had swapped identities, the DNA test clearly showed that Whitney’s parents weren’t hers. She had tried to find any information about her biological parents, but nothing ever came up.
Upon bearing this, Bryce’s dull eyes seemed to lose focus for a while. After a long pause, he shook his head.
“Elaine, no matter how successful you are, having someone to share your life with is important. Listen to me–find someone who’s good for you. And your grandma’s right. If he seems like a decent guy, it’s worth giving him a chance.”
Do you really think Grandma’s doing this for my own good? Do you know that Jordan from the Colemans is divorced, and he’s always out partying with women?”
“Let’s be honest – how many men are really faithful? I know your dad influenced the way you see things, but your mom always held her ground, didn’t she?”
When Bryce said this, Aurora froze for a second, then forced a smile. She didn’t feel like explaining anything further.
Brver had traditional family values, and he held them dear Even if he treated her well, it was impossible to convince someone like him, especially when it was to question his spouse, his own son, and his granddaughter.
A sense of emptiness washed over Aurora as she walked down the long hospital corridor. It was a cold, numb feeling she hadn’t experienced in a long time.
It wasn’t that she was overly sentimental, but once you started to carry certain expectations, it became so easy to feel vulnerable.
She had thought Bryce was wise, that he could see through things.
But now, she realized that even if he did know the truth, it wouldn’t change the fact that he was still part of the Klein family.
She still didn’t know who her real parents were. Maybe after she was abandoned, they never even thought of looking for her.
Aurora wasn’t sure if Bryce knew anything. But the fact that he never brought it up meant that even it he did, he probably didn’t want to share it with her.
Sometimes, she felt completely lost. In such a big world. It was like she didn’t belong anywhere
By the time she left the hospital, night had already fallen. The sky, heavy with clouds all day, finally opened up, and rain began to pour. The rain wasn’t heavy, but the wind was cold
Aurora shook off her thoughts, pulled her briefcase close to her chest, and hurried into the rain, planning to hail a cab home.
The streets were quiet. She quickened her pace, hoping to reach the bus stop up ahead in time to catch a ride
just then, loud shout came from up ahead
There she is! It’s Aurore! Throw the stuff at her!”
“It’s her, for sure! Throw something at her!”
“Ugh! She thinks she can be a professor!”
Take beltess who stole someone else’s spot–ugh, disgusting!”
The volors grew louder, and Aurora’s heart skipped a beat.
