Chapter 35
Aurora didn’t want to stay in the hospital. It felt like a waste of time and was way too much trouble.
“You should listen to the doctor.” Owen’s voice was calm but carried a reassuring tone. “Get better soon so that you don’t have to endure this discomfort.”
“I’m fine. It’s just some superficial cuts I’ve dealt with worse. Being here for observation won’t change anything. I’d rather just go home.”
She turned to the doctor and said, “Doctor, sorry to trouble you. Please just give me some antibiotics and fever meds. I know how to handle the basics. If anything gets worse, I’ll come back. But honestly, staying in the hospital won’t be comfortable for me.”
Aurora glanced down at her clothes, which were stained and smelled unpleasant. She had reached her physical limits, and all she wanted was a quick shower.
She was dirty and smelled awful; she couldn’t take it anymore and just wanted to get home to clean up as soon as
pas soon as possible.
The doctor glanced at Owen. After seeing him nod, he finally said, “Alright, but be careful. If anything happens, make sure to address it immediately.”
“Thank you,” Aurora said.
It didn’t take long for people from the research institute to arrive. After understanding the situation, they immediately reported back and held an emergency meeting, setting up a special task force to investigate the attack on Aurora.
Aurora was sitting on a bench in the Vroom. The needle in her arm was connected to a bag of antibiotics, Owen seemed busy as his phone rang non–stop, but he didn’t answer any calls until she settled down and quietly received her IVdnp. Then, he stepped outside to take the call.
“Mr. Jenson, we’ve got them all. Thirteen people, with some of them being students” Timothy’s voice on the other end was heavy with tension.
“I don’t care who they are or what their background is. They’ll pay for this, no exceptions. It Professor Reed hasn’t given specific instructions, then we’ll take things to the fullest extent.“Owen’s voice was cold, sending a chaill downs one’s spine.
“Yes, Mr. Jenson, I understand. The police interrogation revealed that the attackers are fans of Whitney, the heiress from the Klein family. They took matters into their own hands to get revenge for their idol. They said Professor Reed hurt their idol, so they went after her.”
Klein family? Whitney?
“Fans seelding revenge for their idol… Will they really stop at nothing? It she hadn’t managed to dodge, those daggers and knives would’ve slashed her throat.” Owen’s normally calm voice carried a sharp edge of cold tur
“Call Eleanor. Make sure there’s no settlement. Make them serve the maximum sentence.”
Timothy couldn’t help wiping the sweat from his brow
Eleanor Clooney? The top lawyer from the Qorix Corporation? She was the best of the best, the kind of lawyer who could even get the judge sent to prison if she wanted. She was quite the figure in the legal world, and people called her a powerhouse.
In Timothy’s memory, Owen had never let personal feelings interfere in situation like this. Even when Damian had tried his best to get Owen to bring in Eleanor, he had refused to respond
Owen was now calling the shots, wanting to bring in the legal giant
How important was Aurora to him?
If she was important, why hadn’t Owen reached out to her in the past few days? If she wasn’t important, then
Timothy didn’t need to think twice. This was going to cause a huge stir.
“Understood, Mr. Jenson”
When Owen returned to the room, he found Aurora leaning back in her chair with her head lowered to read an open book on her lap. Her left hand, the one attached to the IV, held a pen. She was making notes in the margins of the pages
He only got to see the contents of the book when he got closer.
