Chapter 40
“Ms. Reed, you’re really beautiful. Mr. Jenson really cares about you,” Comile gently combed Aurora’s hair as she spoke.
Aurora kept her eyes closed and didn’t respond.
Connie glanced carefully and realized that Aurora had actually fallen asleep
she must be exhausted. After worlding non–stop for years, it had been a long time since she had a chance to rest properly. Even a short nap while staring at experiments was a rarity.
Connie finished washing and drying Aurora’s hair, careful not to distrub her. The bathtub water was set to the perfect temperature, so she figured it would be fine to let her soak for a while.
“Mr. Jenson…
Connie walked out of the bathrooms and found Owen standing on the balcony, just finishing a phone call.
“How is she?”
Owen had changed into a new set of clothes and tidied up a bit.
“She’s asleep. She looked really tired and fell asleep soon after. She has two abrasions on her shoulders, but there’s no bleeding. I’ve taken care of it and ensured the wounds are protected from water. Don’t worry.”
“Make sure to keep an eye on her tonight. If there’s any issue, call me right away. After she wakes up, get her to eat something and take her medicine. Then, let her
Owen glanced at his watch, checking the time.
“Got it, Mr. Jenson. You don’t have to worry.
- y. I’ll take good care of her.”
When Aurora heard a lock on the door, she woke up, feeling like she had slept for a long time.
She quickly got dressed and came out. By then, Connie had already brought up some late–night snacks.
“Where’s Mr. Jenson?” Aurora looked around but didn’t see him…
“Connie said, her gaze showing
Mr. Jenson said he had to go for a work dinner. He told me to make sure you eat something, take your medicine, and get some rest,” a subtle curiosity.
She couldn’t help but wonder who exactly Aurora was to get Owen, who usually kept his distance from people, to care so much.
“Thanks,” Aurora replied calmly, not asking any more questions about Owen’s whereabouts. She seemed completely composed.
Connie–wanted to say more, but she saw Aurora walk over to the living room and pick up a book and her teaching materials. She sat at the table and started eating while flipping through her notes.
Aurora was so focused on her work that she completely forgot about Connie behind her.
Connie didn’t want to interrupt and patiently waited. About half an hour later, when Aurora had filled two whole pages of notes, Connie couldn’t help but speak up. “Ms. Reed, it’s getting pretty late. Shouldn’t you take your medicine and get some test? Your wounds need time to heal, and you shouldn’t overdo it.”
Connie glanced at the papers. They were filled with complex formulas and calculations, none of which made sense to her.
“Okay, you go ahead and rest. I’ll finish this chapter and then rest.”
Connie hesitated, but Aurora’s voice was firm when she added, “Don’t worry, I know my limits.”
Aurora poured herself a glass of water, sipping it before returning to work
Another half hour passed, and by the time she finally took her medicine and settled down, It was almost 1:00 am.
Connie checked in every half hour. As expected, Aurora developed a high fever.
Connie quickly gave her fever medicine and used physical cooling methods. She also sent Owen a message to update him on the situation.
