Chapter 44
Aurora woke up because of hunger Slowly opening her eyes, she saw a dim light. Her beail felt heavy, and her throat was dry and painful.
After taking a moment, she got out of bed. When she looked up, she saw twen sleeping on the couch across the room.
Aurora was stunned, and memories from the previous night surged back. She ended up with a fever in the middle of the night, Connie stayed with her, and later, Owen personally took care of her.
Hadn’t he gone out for business dinner? Yet he took her to the hospital to get her wounds cleaned, sent her home, and even came back in the middle of the night to look after her?
This man… had a strong sense of responsibility.
After thinking for a bit, Aurora decided to get up and wash up. She was still starving, and her throat was sore. She planned to have some water and take care of her
hunger
When she came out after freshening up and changing her clothes, Owen was still sound asleep. So, she found a blanket and quietly approached to cover him.
Just as she was about to straighten up, a long, slender hand suddenly gripped her wrist.
She quickly lifted her eyes. He was awake now, his dark gaze silently locked on her.
Instinctively, Aurora tried to pull her hand back, but his hold was firm. After several attempts, she still couldn’t free herself.
“You’re awake?” His deep voice was calm. He reached out to feel her forehead, checking her temperature. “No fever now. How are your wounds? Do they still hurt?”
Aurora glanced at her arms, then nodded. “They’ve almost healed. They’re just small wounds. No big deal. Last night must have been hard on you, Mr. Jenson.”
Her voice was rough and scratchy, and the sound of it made her frown.
If you know it was hard on me, then remember to thank me properly later,” Owen casually replied.
Aurora’s delicate face froze momentarily, then she nodded readily. “If you’re willing, I’ll be sure to show in
“just so we’re clear, I don’t want a formal thank–you, and I won’t accept just words,” Owen added.
my gratitude,”
“What kind of thanks do you want, then?” She really couldn’t guess what this powerful man would want since he seemed to lack nothing. It was easier to just ask Instead of stressing over it.
For now, she really didn’t know what kind of gift she could give him.
“I’m not picky. Think it over. Sincerity is what matters, Ms. Reed.”
Aurora was speechless.
“Drink more water. Your fever was pretty high last night. You’re dehydrated, and that’s why your throat hurts,” he said as he ran his slender fingers through her silky hair and touched her head
Before she could react, he got up and headed to the bathroom
