Chapter 47
Outside the police station, Jenny arrived to find that Sidney had already been negotiating for quite a while.
“How’s it going?” Jenny rushed up anxiously. “The media’s running wild with speculation. If they’re not released soon, this will cause a huge uproar”
Sidney’s brows were knitted tightly together, his lips pressed into a thin line. He clearly hadn’t expected Whitney’s fans to attack Aurom, stirring up such chaos.
But the more he looked into it using his connections, the more complicated it seemed. A high–ranking friend had advised him to cooperate with the police. The authorities had even formed a special investigation team for this incident.
Sidney was stunned when he heard the news.
How could Aurora have such influence?
No one would tell him the specifics. No matter how many favors be tried to call in, no one dared to say a word. Even Sally personally tried to intervene from abroad, but it made no difference. This showed just how serious the matter was
“We can only wait. I have a feeling it’s not that simple,” Sidney said heavily, glancing inside with a worried expression.
“If this was just about fans hurting someone, it wouldn’t be like this.”
Jenny narrowed her eyes, hesitating before continuing, “Haven’t you noticed? All the reports mention a university professor being attacked by fans, but they never once reveal who that professor is. You can’t find any personal information about the victim online. Only we know it’s Aurora.”
Hearing this, Sidney froze, recalling the reports. That was true
“Let’s hold tight for now. If Whitney didn’t do it, then there’s no need for us to worry. If things are more complicated, we’ll figure something out. I’ve already ordered the team to work through the night on a plan. For now, we just need to get them out on bail
“As for the fans responsible for the attack, I’m afraid they’ll be locked up for a few days. Since Hayes can’t get in touch with Aurora, it’s unlikely she’ll agree to any settlement…”
Sidney couldn’t help but feel a surge of worry when he thought about Aurora’s distant and indifferent attitude.
Whitney and Ryan were questioned for a full hours.
When Whitney finally came out and saw the trending headlines and those self–media reports, she nearly lost it. She grabbed her phone and hurled it onto the couch.
“Those idiots, those worthless online trolls! Spreading nonsense without a shred of evidence! She almost died from a stabbing? Attempted murder? Which one of them saw Aurora nearly die? Disfigured? If only she were disfigured, that would be perfect!
“Useless fools! So stupid! Now, I have to pay for their stupidity? idiots! Just throw money at it! Give them more money! Don’t they just want money to cool things down? Is a million enough? Two million? Or five million?
“First, get those dozen idiots out! Whatever it takes, just pay up! Isn’t this all about money? What more do they need to investigate?”
