Chapter 48
“Making such a fuss, even going to the point of checking the studio and Venechi – don’t they just want to force our hand? I’ve seen right through their ugly faces!” Whitney gnashed her teeth as she ranted.
As Whitney’s agent, Jenny had long been aware of her true nature. However, bound by the contract, she had no choice but to maintain Whitney’s public image. This included often covering for her and cleaning up her mess.
“The problem now is they’ve clearly said it’s not about money. They’ve wamed us to tread carefully,” Jenny replied, her head pounding
“Whitney, I’ve told you before. You need to have patience. You’ve worked so hard to reform your image and gain popularity. If you could land a few good roles, you’d even have a shot at Best Actress this year. Why do you keep compning yourself to Aurora? Why did you incite your fans to go after her? Are you crazy?”
Jenny’s words made Whitney unhappy. She was about to retort when Jerry’s nest remarkmade her swallow her protest
“Don’t think you’re the only smart one. Even though you used a secondary account, once they check the JP, they’ll know where those messages came from.”
Jenny didn’t elaborate further.
Whitney wasn’t entirely thoughtless. She used her assistant, Felicity’s, identity to register that secondary account. If things went south, she could throw Felicity Jackman under the bus as a scapegoal.
It was a common tactic in the entertainment industry. When something happened, the assistant or agent often took the fall.
The thought weighed beavily on Jenny. Even though she was still under contract with Whitney, she knew she had to be careful.
Venechi wasn’t easy to deal with. Besides, Whitney’s mother was a music diva with vast resources. As a small–time agent, Jenny knew she couldn’t go up against
that
However, IP traces would lead back to w
Whitney’s s
studio, and it wouldn’t hold up under scrutiny.
“Is there really no way out? Before, we could always handle such things easily. It always just came down to money!
In the past, whenever something came up, they’d just pull some strings and fix it quicldy. Manipulating the trends was something they often did. Why could they not do the same this time?
“Maybe you’ve offended someone you shouldn’t have this time. The families of those fans are already up in arms.”
“Offended someone I shouldn’t have? Aurora? A professor from Astrait University?” Whitney sneered as it she had just heard the year’s biggest joke.
She dared to go after Aurora because she believed Bryce was on his deathbed and couldn’t protect her anymore. Without a backer, Aurora could be easily crushed
and ruined.
Whitney wanted Aurora’s face scarred and her reputation destroyed. But those idiots failed, leaving her with only minor injuries
“She’s a distinguished professor in the Department of Physics at Astrait University. She’s a top talent who completed her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate there. She even holds a PhD from a prestigious foreign university. Do you really think so little of her?”
Jenny couldn’t understand why Whitney looked down on Aurora without even investigating her background.
