Chapter 50
Whitney gritted her teeth as she finished spalding. Her once sweet and innocent face was now twisted, her eyes burning with malice.
The sight made Jenny feel uneasy. She had always losown Whitney had two sides. In public, she was sweet and kind, but behind the scenes, she was vicious and cruel. Seeing this unmasked side of her made Jenny worry about what might happen if she ever crossed Whitney.
She decided it would be wise to prepare some contingency plans. Who knew if she might end up as Whitney’s next target?
“Does Mr. Sander know about your plan?” Jenny asked, her expressioncomplicated.
“Don’t worry. Sidney won’t oppose anything I say I’m about to become Starline Entertainment’s few official spokesperson. He values me highly. You just focus on the aftermath. You’re more experienced at dealing with the fans‘ families, so go handle that.”
What experience did she have? Jenny wanted to curse on the spot. The fans‘ families were the hardest to handle.
They were demanding compensation and insisting on getting their children out of jail. Some had even gone to cry outside the police station, attracting a whole swarm of media. They were then taken inside by the exasperated officers.
Otherwise, all that trouble would’ve been pinned on them. And the media–heaven knew why–just kept throwing negative press their way.
Still, Jenny had no choice but to grit her teeth and comply. After all, they were in the same boat.
In the CEO’s office of Cox Corporation, Eleanor walked in with her briefcase just as Owen returned from his morning meeting
“Mr. Jenson,” she greeted.
“Have a seat,” Owen said, eyeing the chair in front of him and then sitting down himself
Eleanor calmly took a seat. “We’re lucky this time that it was Professor Reed. If it had been anyone else, they’d probably be done for.”
As Eleanor spoke, she pulled a file from her briefcase and handed it to Owen. “This folder contains information on every member of the Klein family. At the top is the file for Elaine Klein, which is Professor Reed’s former name. You can look through it if you wish.”
Owen didn’t rake the file, merely lifting his gaze to look at Eleanor “Is everything settled?”
“To what extent do you mean? Fortunately, Professor Reed is tough. But before I contine, thave a question for you.” Eleanor narrowed her sharp eyes, a sly smile playing on her lips as she looked at Owen.
“Go ahead,Owen said calmly,
“Have you finally made up your mind? I’ve never seen you this caught up over a woman. Are you actually trying to pursue her?” Eleanor asked, probing.
