Dad had never been the type to wear his heart on his sleeve, but even his eyes reddened when he saw me. Mom hurriedly pulled me into the house and started bustling around, wanting to prepare this and that for me.
Soon, she prepared my favorite mac and cheese. Dad urged me to eat–I polished everything off in a short while, leaving nothing behind.
When I was done, Dad asked, “Why did you bring so many things back with you this time?”
I wiped my mouth and said, “I couldn’t get used to the food there, so I asked my company to transfer me back here.”
Mom and Dad were taken aback. Even after a long while, Mom was still in disbelief. “Does this mean you’re not leaving anymore?”

I wrapped an arm around her shoulders and nodded. “Yeah. I’m moving back in and staying with you guys forever!”
She glared at me and muttered something about not wanting me to cling to her, but there was no hiding the broad smile on her face.
Dad asked what would happen to Shawn. Would be stay on in Marvonia alone?
Shawn and I had gone abroad shortly after marrying, so he’d never spent much time with Mom and Dad. They were basically strangers to each other.
I told them frankly that Shawn and I were divorced. Dad sighed heavily upon hearing that.” I’m fine with anything as long as you’re happy.”
That night, I lay in my own bed. I had sweet dreams.
I’d taken a week off work to take Mom and Dad on a trip. They enjoyed themselves and started smiling and laughing more.
Unlike the comfortable and happy life I was enjoying back in Summeria, Shawn was stunned when he learned I’d put up the apartment in Marvonia for sale.
He went to look for me one day and kept ringing the doorbell, but nobody answered. Coincidentally, the realtor brought someone to view the place. Only then did Shawn learn that I’d put the place up for sale.
He tried calling me, but all he heard was the operator saying robotically, “The number you have dialed is unreachable.”
Shawn went to my workplace to look for me, but Tom told him I’d already requested to return to Summeria.
