My hand was still trembling slightly. The brief contact with Julian’s skin left me with an instinctive sense of disgust. I scrubbed my palm vigorously, almost tearing the skin in the
process.
Julian’s eyes burned with fury. “Sick? Weren’t you the one acting all desperate in bed, begging like a bitch in heat?”
He grabbed me forcefully. “If you want to get fucked by me, just say so. What’s with the coy act? Let’s go to the car! I’ll satisfy you.”
I struggled to break free, and just as his lips were about to meet mine, I lifted my knee and struck him squarely in the groin.
“Ugh–Victoria Dean, you!” Julian roared in rage. “Fine, let’s see b mountain by yourself!”
With that, he stormed off, driving away in anger.

Green Peak was in the outskirts, its gentle slopes leading to a paved road that extended all the way to the church entrance. I had taken a taxi up the mountain.

Just as I was about to head to the church for shelter, a familiar black SUV cut through the downpour and stopped in front of me.
Norman stepped out, holding an umbrella that he tilted entirely over my head.
I was a little surprised. “Ash, why are you here?”
“I’ve been following you since you left home. I figured you were going to see Julian, and I couldn’t stop worrying.”
Norman naturally draped his jacket over my shoulders, its warmth still carrying his body heat.
It had been so long since anyone cared for me like this, and a gentle warmth spread through my chest.
“It’s fine, I can handle it. By the way, Ash, did you run into Julian just now?”
Norman’s expression turned disdainful. “Not only did I run into
