I had no idea how much time had passed before I finally woke up. The first thing that greeted me was the strong smell of disinfectant
Elijah gazed at me nervously. “How are you feeling now? Are you still in pain?”
I just glared back coldly, feeling nothing but disgust toward him.
“Have you signed the divorce agreement yet? Remember, we’re getting a divorce.”
Elijah was momentarily surprised, but he soon let out a heavy sigh. “Honey, can you please not do this? Just think about it; you were always the one starting fights between us! Thanks to you, our family’s about to get torn apart!”
I just chuckled icily while glaring at Elijah. At that moment, I felt that I could barely recognize him.
“Do you think I’d start fights for no reason if not for the fact that you’ve been seeing another woman behind my back? You can’t even stay loyal to me in our marriage, yet now you have the balls to blame me?”
Now that I had chosen to expose Elijah’s infidelity in his face, his expression shifted into one of disdain.
“Ask around and you’ll know that all rich men tend to have mistresses and underground lovers! You want me to accompany you all the time! The thing is, no man in this world is capable of doing that to their wives!
“Also, you make it sound as if you’re not responsible for my infidelity! Just look at how much your appearance has deteriorated over the years since we got married! I don’t feel sexually attracted to you at all!”
The way Elijah pinned the blame on me almost drove me crazy.
When I first met him, I was a walking bombshell with a hot figure to boot. In fact, I was a lot more beautiful than Yvonne.
But after we got married, I had to take up three jobs during the time Elijah failed to start his business for the first time and had racked up massive debts. At that time, I’d gladly take up any job no matter how difficult and exhausting it was as long as it paid well.
Because of that, my looks had diminished greatly.
Elijah never cared about my contributions to his success, nor did his heart go out to me whenever I suffered. Instead, he kept humiliating, degrading, and gaslighting me verbally. Honestly speaking, Elijah really was a piece of shit if I were to disregard my love for him. I knew that there was no way I’d let my son acknowledge him as his father in the future.
