“I’m not upset, William. I truly am happy for you,” Hannah spoke calmly. “Whether you like Eleanor or someone else, you can bring either home. I don’t mind.”
“Are you being honest with me?” William stared intently at her, his brows furrowed as he searched her face for hidden feelings.
“Yes, completely honest.”
I’d expected William to be thrilled when Hannah said those
words.
Instead, his face darkened with an icy, unhappy expression.
“I’ll get out of your way then,” Hannah continued, ignoring his cold demeanor. “But William, I’ll need some money for a hotel. Could you transfer some to me?”
William’s expression grew even darker. “Money, money, money! That’s all you ask for lately. Do you want money? Fine, here! Take it and get out!”
He pulled a credit card from his pocket and threw it at Hannah’s face.
Hannah didn’t get angry. She picked up the card and walked
away.
I couldn’t help but find William’s expression somewhat
amusing.

He had neglected me, his wife of seven years. Whenever I questioned him about his relationship with Eleanor, he accused me of making a fuss over nothing.
Now that Hannah was a compliant wife instead of a questioning one, he wasn’t happy either.

Hannah lay in her hotel bed that night.
She kept staring at the credit card William had given her, turning it repeatedly in her hands.
“William’s loaded… I wonder how much I could get in a divorce settlement,” Hannah muttered.
The next day, Hannah called lawyers to discuss divorce proceedings.
She stayed away from home for several days, busy with preparations.
On the seventh day, Hannah received a text message from William.
William: [I’m out of condoms. Bring some over.]
Not only was William sleeping with her first love, but he was deliberately rubbing it in “my” face.
I would have cursed him out if I had been on the other end of that phone before.

If that weren’t enough to cool my anger, I would have tracked him down for a screaming match and a physical fight.

But now, I feel nothing for him. I just had a calm urge to laugh.
But Hannah was different from me.
In her world, she only knew how to obey to get more money from William.
As expected, she agreed to his request.
Hannah bought a box of condoms and delivered them to William’s hotel room.
She knocked on the door.
The door quickly opened, and William froze momentarily when he saw Hannah.
“I can’t believe you actually came,” he said in a dull voice, somewhere between addressing her and talking to himself.
William stood there, clearly surprised by her presence.
“Do you need anything else? If not, I’m leaving,” Hannah said flatly, ignoring his comment.
Her words snapped William back to reality.
Seeing she was about to leave, he grabbed her arm roughly.
“Hazel, what happened to you? Why have you changed so much?”

Instead of answering, Hannah asked, “About the money for the condoms…”
William frowned deeply. “Money again! Is that all you care about?”
“Yeah, that’s right. Don’t worry. As long as you pay me, I won’t get in the way of you and Eleanor. You two can be together without any concerns.
“I’ll even divorce you if the price is right.”
William finally realized something was seriously wrong with “me” at that moment.
His voice was confused as his eyes scanned me up and down.
“You were never like this before, Hazel.
“Where did the old you go?”
I floated in the air as I let out a sneer.
Didn’t he know I was already dead?
Hannah wanted to leave, probably afraid of exposing her identity.
“If nothing else, I’ll be going now.”
William tried to grab Hannah but only caught her clothes.
Her collar tore at the shoulder, revealing the spot where my birthmark should have been now whell.. 1

He stood there speechless, his jaw dropped.
“You’re…”
