Chapter 4
As I watched his reaction, a sense of finality settled over me.
“Who exactly are you? Where’s Hazel?” William demanded coldly.
Though Hannah tried to keep her composure, her voice betrayed her nervousness. “Honey, what are you talking about? I don’t understand. I’m me! Who else would I be…”
“That’s impossible! I clearly remember you had a birthmark on your shoulder! Where is it?!”
William’s tone was ice–cold, entirely unlike the always–composed William I knew.
“Right here, you had a birthmark right here!” he said, reaching to pull at Hannah’s clothes.
Hannah forcefully pushed his hand away. “You’re mistaken! I’ve never had a birthmark there. Stop this!
“Don’t you have important business to take care of? I’ll get out of your way!”
With that, Hannah quickened her pace and quickly walked

“Maybe I did remember wrong…‘

She walked over to William’s side. After calling his name twice without response, Eleanor nudged his shoulder.
William snapped out of his daze, looking at Eleanor with a vacant expression.
He blinked. “Sorry, what did you say?”
Eleanor patiently draped over his shoulders, running her hands across his chest.
“I said, now that the condoms are here, shouldn’t we get started?”
She tried to push William onto the bed, but he wouldn’t budge.

The voice on the other end grew louder while Hannah could only respond with complete submission.
“Soon, please. Give me one more week. I swear I’m telling the
truth this time!”

The man let out a snort. “Fine, since you borrowed quite a bit, I’ll give you one week.”
After he hung up, Hannah let out a long breath of relief.
She then pulled out divorce papers she had already prepared from her bag.
William had started a design company after graduation, which had grown into a sizable business.
If Hannah divorced William, she would get enough money from the settlement.
That money would cover most of her debts.
All Hannah needed to do now was get William to divorce her quickly.
She promptly sent the divorce papers to William.
After sending them, Hannah was overjoyed.
She knew William hated me, so she was sure he would immediately agree to the divorce.

Even I thought the same thing.
But Hannah and I were both wrong.
Hannah waited long, but William never signed the divorce
papers.
