Chapter 6
Even though Lucien assigned me three bodyguards, I still got kidnapped on the way back.

Madge, that psycho, was hiding in the bathroom stall like some horror movie villain. The second I stepped out, a cold steel was against my throat.
“Been visiting Burke again, you slut? Lusting after your own brother?” Her hair was wild, eyes crazed. She was still hung up on him.
I forced myself to breathe steady. “He’s just a brother to me now. Nothing more.”
“Bullshit! You’ve been sleeping with him!”
“Madge, wake up. I’m over Burke. He’s the one who won’t back off.” I tried to calm her down.
“We have no grudges; the one you should hate most is him.”
She suddenly raised the dagger high.
“He loves me! I’d do anything for him!”
The blade flashed. “DIE!”
Everything happened in slow motion. At that instant, a tall

figure in an expensive suit wrapped around me like a shield.
Guards soon slammed Madge down, but she kept screaming, “This is all your fault, Sara! I’ll kill you!”
Then came the sick sound of steel meeting flesh. Blood splattered everywhere, staining the vision red.
Lucien groaned, face white as paper, but his grip on my waist only got tighter.
“Sara… you okay?”
I stared into his pain–filled eyes, one word screaming in my head: KARMA.

“Stop crying, idiot… I’m not dead yet.” He wiped my tears with shaking fingers, his lips turning blue.
Am… am I crying?
Damn right I am…
Tears flowed even more, and I wiped my face messily while pulling out my phone. “I’ll call an ambulance right now, we’re going to the hospital!”
“Where’s your doctor? Get him here right now!”
Lucien just tilted his head and gently kissed my trembling lips.
“Rare to… see you worried about me…”

This was our first real kiss. No lust, no games.
Madman!
Dying and still trying to be smooth.
Before I could tell him off, he collapsed on my shoulder.
Lucien was unconscious for forty–eight hours.
Due to hemorrhagic shock, he was rushed into the ICU twice.
I stayed by his bedside without leaving.

His people kept whispering about true love, admiring me for a good wife. I just smiled.
The next night, with only the heart monitor for company, I went live.
Holding up my ID, eyes red, face ghostly, looking properly destroyed.
But my voice was as firm as steel on concrete. “I’m reporting my husband, Lucien, CEO of Congreve Group, for 23 crimes. Rape. Forced marriage. Money laundering. Bribery…”
“Here’s the proof. Please, everyone, help me expose this monster. Bring the guilty to justice!”
The stream exploded. As the recordings and financial

statements were revealed, “the Congreve Group criminal offenses” dominated the top of trending searches.
Lucien was wrong.
The camera was just smoke and mirrors.
The real recorder was hidden in the jacket lining.
It was the key.
Finally, I got my justice.
