“What’s going on! What are you doing?!”
My mom screamed in fear, instinctively trying to hide behind me.
This time, I shoved her toward the police.
The officers explained that my dad had forced my mom to take out loans online to pay off their debts. Once the police uncovered it, they came to arrest them.
As they took my mom away, she struggled violently. She ran up to me, tears streaming down her face, and begged, “Alisha, my dear, please help me! I raised you all these years…”
“When I was in middle school and they assigned me to you, did you ever work a day? Everything you use, I earned with my own hands. ̧ How could you turn everything upside down like this?”
I spoke coldly to my mom.
She froze, looking at me in disbelief, clearly shocked that the obedient and sensible daughter she knew would suddenly turn her
back on her.
She grabbed me, pushing and shoving.

mine too! Why won’t you help me? Do you want me to die?”
My dad, furious, shouted at me, “No matter what, we’re your parents! How can you be so vicious?”
At this point, they no longer hid their true selves, tearing off their ugly masks.

But I didn’t have time to argue. My flight was about to leave. As I was walking away, I handed them a card. “If you can get out of prison, I’ll put two hundred thousand dollars on this card. I’ll pay you back in installments, for whatever little debt I owe you.”
My mom snatched the card, still cursing at me.
I shrugged, slung my bag over my shoulder, and walked straight toward the boarding gate.
Once the plane landed and I finished the admission procedures at my new school, I received a call from the police station.
My dad’s entire estate had been auctioned off to pay his debts.
After returning home, my parents had gotten into a violent fight. The neighbors said my dad hadn’t come out for half a month and suspected something had happened, so they called the police.
In the end, the police discovered that my mom had killed my dad in a fight. She had dismembered him in the basement and flushed his body parts down the toilet.
Chapter 10
My mother committed suicide by jumping off a building when the police came to the door.
When the police arrived, they found Wilbur, who had his leg amputated, convulsing on the floor.
I didn’t follow the news after that.
Everyone has their own life to live. After enrolling in my new school, I made some great friends and met a mentor who appreciated me.
That twenty million dollars finally helped me build my own life.
