After I won 20 million
Chapter 4
“Alisha, why are you so nervous?”
Mom smiled sweetly at me, but her eyes were sharp, full of hidden intent.
When I was locked in the basement in my past life, she gave me that same look. It was like she was certain I had nowhere to run.
A wave of despair washed over me.
I thought, “Am I really going to fall into their clutches again in this life?”
If her behavior weren’t so eerily similar to how she acted in my past life, I would almost think she was also reborn!
Otherwise, I couldn’t figure out another reason for her to be so sure that I won the lottery.
Right then, I wanted nothing more than to tear my mask off and move far away, but I couldn’t.
I knew if my mom let the news slip to my dad, the three of them would come after me again. I would be doomed to repeat my past fate.
I had to rid myself of them once and for all if I ever wanted peace.

So, I made up my mind to stop hiding. I confessed everything to her.
“Mom, the truth is… I did win the lottery that day.
“But… I can’t touch the money.”
In my past life, I had told my mom the truth, warning her not to tell Wilbur or my dad.
But she betrayed me immediately, joining forces with them to turn against me. In the end, they killed me and disposed of my body.
This time, I was going to turn them against each other and trap them all. I wouldn’t let anyone profit.
When my mom heard that my dad had taken my money, her face twisted with rage.
“That money was meant for me! How dare Fletcher try to take it from you? That bastard!”
I lowered my head, pretending to be anxious.
“Dad threatened me not to tell you, saying you’d take the money. But, Mom, I’ve been with you since middle school. I don’t care about him at all! I just… I don’t want to lie to you anymore.”
My mom started pacing, her mind racing. Then, suddenly, she looked at me again, suspicion in her eyes.

“Wait a minute. Fletcher’s been blacklisted for his gambling. No bank would give him a credit card, right?”
She stared at me, piercing me with her gaze.
I nodded slowly. “Yes, the money is in my account.”
Her eyes lit up, and she grabbed my hand with excitement.
“Great! Then why are you worried? Let’s withdraw the money right now!”
I lowered my head, feigning guilt. “Mom, I’ve always dreamed of giving you a good life, of treating you well. If the money was in my hands, I’d take you to buy a house immediately. But…”
My mom’s expression shifted as she sensed something was wrong.
“My dad took my bank card.”
My words instantly crushed any excitement my mother had.
