“How dare you hit me?”
“It’s not just a slap. I’m firing you.”

When Nobert saw I was serious, he rushed over, pretending to calm me down. “Monty’s been here for years, how can you just fire her over something so trivial? Just go home, okay?”
Something trivial? Since when could employees disrespect their boss?
“Hailey, can you do me a favor and just let this go?” Katrina came over, grabbing my arm with a pleading tone. Then she turned to Monty and said, “Monty, I know you’re worried about me, but you can’t talk to Hailey like that. She’s sick and can’t handle too much stress, okay? Don’t do this again.”

Katrina was stunned. “Hailey, what are you saying…?”
Monty, confirming once again who Ms. Norris really was, sneered at me. “How dare you! You’re just a maid, and now you’re telling Ms. Norris to leave your house? It’s a miracle she hasn’t had you committed to a mental hospital already!”
Katrina wouldn’t give up. “Then let Nobert drive us. We’ll sit in the back. We can talk this through.”
I scoffed, shaking my head. “Did you not hear me? I said get out of my house. And take Nobert with you.”
Seeing Katrina’s pitiful expression, Clark hesitated. “Please, that’s enough. Every time you’re unwell, Katrina’s the one who takes care of you, and here you are, embarrassing her in front of

Oh, so now they were all playing the victim.
“Clark, go get your paycheck. From now on, let her pay you.”
I snatched the car keys from Clark and walked off, leaving them behind.
