Chapter 5
That evening, Katrina came to find me, looking pitiful, just like when she had stood at my door all those years ago.
“Hailey, are you mad at me? Recently, the shareholders have been pushing to sell their shares. You know, we’re in the health supplements business, and with your health issues… so… so Nobert and I didn’t dare to acknowledge your identity right away. We were worried it would harm the company if it got out.
“You just focus on taking care of yourself at home. I’ll handle things at the company.”
I couldn’t help but sneer. What a load of nonsense. So, the owner of a pharmaceutical company could never be sick?
But I hadn’t gathered enough evidence about the harmful drugs they’d been giving me yet, so I couldn’t expose them just yet.
“So, that’s what this is about. I guess I was being too sensitive.” I forced a smile, replying.
“I’ll have Nobert bring you your medicine soon.”
Minutes later, Nobert brought the medicine up, looking all affectionate and hugging me tightly.
“Baby, don’t get upset over things that don’t matter. Here, take your medicine, and you’ll sleep well.”
Only after I’d finished the medicine did Nobert seem to relax, lying down with me.

A while later, he gently shook me, but when he saw I wasn’t moving, he pulled out his phone to send a message. I quickly spit the medicine into a towel I had prepared earlier.
Nobert had the habit of casting movies onto the screen, and right now, he was sending messages while watching.
I glanced at the screen. It was Katrina.
Katrina: [Has that bitch fallen asleep? If she has, hurry up and come over.]
Nobert: [The medicine was pretty strong. She’s been knocked out for a while. Babe, want to come over? We can do it by her side. That will be fun.]
Katrina: [Ugh, you’re so annoying. Just come over. I think we should speed things up. Monty’s idea sounds good. We should send her to the mental hospital.]
Seeing this, Nobert grabbed two condoms from the drawer and quickly left the room.
Seeing their messages, I trembled with anger. The two people I trusted the most, my own husband and best friend, were plotting against me.
Pushing aside the grief, I hurriedly pulled out my phone to snap a picture of their conversation on the screen.
The door lock clicked, and I quickly lay back down.
Nobert rushed in, saw me lying there as if asleep, turned off the

screen, and left again.

The next morning, Katrina brought me the medicine. “Hailey, I’ve arranged for a doctor to help with your treatment. Take your medicine, okay?”
It was the same kind of medicine that made me feel foggy, the very kind I’d taken in my previous life that made me admit I had mental health problems, giving her the perfect excuse to send me to the psychiatric hospital.
“Sure.” I drank it all in one go.
Soon enough, the doctor they arranged showed up.
“According to my diagnosis, Ms. Norris does indeed show signs of severe mental illness. I recommend hospitalization for observation.”
The doctor reported to Katrina.
Whether I was sick or not, he was going to say I was.
I sat there, dazed, staring at the floor. I looked up at Nobert and asked, “Honey, do I really have a problem?”
He pretended to be sorrowful. “Baby, I don’t want you to go to the hospital either. But don’t worry. I’ll visit you often.”
Katrina added, “That’s right, Hailey. Just focus on getting better. I’ll take care of everything at home.”
I turned to the maid. “Maria, do you think I’m sick?”

issues. You not only think you’re the owner of this house, but just a few days ago, you even threatened to kill me.”
Great. Another backstabber.
“Hailey, you really need to take care of yourself.” Katrina hugged me, her eyes red. Then, her tone changed as she whispered in my ear, “Hailey, just stay there and behave yourself, okay? I’ll take care of your husband and child. Nobert is so gentle.”
Soon, their arranged car arrived, and a few big guys got out.
Katrina, folding her arms, gave me one last glance. “That’s her. Take her away. Make sure to take good care of her.”
Just as they were about to take me away, a group of medical staff rushed in.
“Stop! Which hospital are you from?”
