Sophie tagged me, fishing for my blessing,
Staring at their wedding photo, I let out a sigh.
‘Perfect match,‘ I thought. Trash meets trash can‘
I commented with all my heart, [Wishing you both an everlasting, blissful union!]
Sophie then sent me a private message. [I know you’re just jealous, not really happy for us.]
I replied with a heads–up. (Just hope you don’t get chewed up and spit out by those two.]
Sophic snapped at me, [Just say you’re jealous, but you’re too stubborn to admit it! Don’t worry, I’ll be way happier than you!]
I stopped replying; I could not reason with someone as stubborn as a mule.
It looked like it was time for her to settle her old debts.
Moving on.
Jeffrey was all over social media, flaunting his luxury cars and designer watches.
His selfies were caked with makeup, probably to cover the zombie–like skin underneath.
Sophie’s social media feed, on the other hand, was dead quiet.
Even her wedding photo had vanished without a trace.
I stumbled upon some gossip that Sophie, for some unknown reason, had started divorce proceedings the very next day after her marriage was official.
I could not help but scoff. When her dream love turned into a nightmare, who could deal with that?
Rumor had it that Jeffrey was dead set against the divorce. Tracy even dug up some of Sophie’s private pictures, threatening to blast them online if she did not stop the drama.
From what my father told me, Sophie had no choice but to crawl back to her father for help.
However, Daniel, her father, had been tricked by a former business partner who took him for all he was worth and left him drowning in debt before skipping town.
Ironically, Daniel was very cautious about choosing a partner after bringing my family down in my previous life.
This time, in Daniel’s rush to outdo my father, he did not even bother to vet his new partner properly.
Then, both of them were up against the wall, desperate to sell their house and get some cash.
