gasped.
I just smiled at him, my silence speaking volumes.
Jeffrey freaked out and shouted at me, “No way, this can’t be happening. I’m sure I’m
dreaming. In the real world, I’m cruising in fancy cars with more cash than I can burn.”
A guy traveling with us snickered, “He has been binge–watching too much TV, He’s totally lost it!”
When the big guy snorted, Jeffrey shot me a furious look. “Bracelet, Yasmine! Where’s the

pearl bracelet I gave you?”
I fished it out of my pocket and tossed it down at Jeffrey’s feet. “Is this what you’re talking about?”
I had already had the spell removed by a Spirit Priest after the old beggar got his wish. To play it safe, the priest even melted down the pearl bracelet.
What I threw to him then was just a cheap, fake pearl bracelet that cost three bucks.
However, the relentless setbacks, along with his current tortured state, had already pushed Jeffrey over the edge.
Seeing the one thing he thought could turn his luck around, Jeffrey lost his mind completely. He grabbed the bracelet, alternating between sobs and maniacal laughter. “Haha! I want the high life, the babes, the endless cash. I want to go back to reality…”
With that, he took a running leap and jumped off the roof.
Everyone around was stunned.
The debt collectors were just as shocked. “What’s with this guy? I didn’t even get a word in.”
I pointed up at the security camera. “He flipped out all on his own. The cops will sort this out and prove we’re innocent.”
With that, I called the cops right away.
From that day on, there was no more freaky magic, just sweat and effort.
Bonus story.
A girl of twenty–three showed up at my orchard, looking for work.
“Why do you want to help me?” she questioned.
I was busy wrapping fruit and answered without much thought, “Ever heard of past lives?
“In a dream, right before I was about to die, a beggar ripped off her own clothes to cover my
face.
“That’s why I think she’s got a good heart. I’m ready to give her a second shot, a chance to make a new choice.”
