In a matter of seconds, she cycled through a few ways to address him, each sounding awkward, leaving her with a strange form of address.
Seeing his questioning look, sahesitated, struggling internally, and finally decided to ask tactfully.
“Those jewelry pieces my family has–did you pick them out yourself?”
Darcy gave a slight nod.
“Yes. Don’t like them? When you’re free, we can pick out some new ones.”

After hours together, he finally saw her smile. Though it didn’t seem entirely genuine, it eased the worry gnawing at Darcy. At least, for a first meeting, the Impression was pleasant enough. That was enough for him.
Maria spent a full week in the hospital, feeling like her bones had gone soft. The day she was discharged, three days of rain in California tinally stopped. Alvin dropped her off at home, then turned to leave. She wanted to ask him to stay for a meal, but he frowned and made an excuse to avoid it. Watching his figure disappear at the door, Maria hid her disappointment, picking up her phone to call a few friends.
