Chapter 15
“What vultures?” Serenity inquired, perplexed. She turned to look at Alex’s handsome and gentle face, hoping to understand what he was referring to.
“Oh, those vultures surrounding you, Alex clarified, flashing his signature smile and jovial demeanor. “Let me introduce them to you.”
He first pointed a finger at Old Madam Williams, who met his gesture with a frown of confusion. She did not take kindly to the sight of another man besides her grandson holding Serenity so intimately.
But she was not alone in this sentiment. Sébastien felt a rush of blood to his brain as he glared coldly at Alex, or whoever he claimed to be. How dare he hold his woman in such a possessive manner?
And Serenity what was wrong with her? When he had held her before, she had fought to free herself from his grasp. But now that another man was holding her intimately in front of him, she showed no signs of resistance.
Wait a minute… Did that obnoxious and unattractive man just refer to her as his “WIFE? How could Serenity possibly be married! It was inconceivable! And if by some slim chance she was, Sébastien would make it his mission to divorce her from this imbecile in front of him.
And what was with that absurd grin on Alex’s face? Did Serenity fall for him because he acted like a fool, while Sébastien always maintained a serious expression?
Mental Note: He would have to smile more often in front of her from now on!
Sébastien’s thoughts were running wild inside his head, causing a throbbing headache to form. He rubbed his temple in frustration, trying to make sense of it all.
But just then, Alex’s voice pierced through his chaotic thoughts.
“See wifey,” he remarked with a teasing tone, “this old hag here is the big vulture. She is the root cause of all your misfortunes. If she hadn’t forced you to marry her incompetent, annoying, and useless grandson, who is barely worth as much as a blind man, none of the misfortunes in your past would have occurred Alex declared nonchalantly, his grin growing even wider.
Gasps of shock echoed throughout the room at his bold statement.
Yet, the man in question showed no remorse for his brash words and continued on without a care in the world…
“And oh! Do not omit the wicked and venomous former mother–in–law. Tsk, tsk! I truly sympathize with you, Mr. Harris. No offense, but why did you choose the spoiled tomato when there were fresh and untainted ones? Alex said and dramatically shook his head in dismay.
“How dare your Sasha roared in anger.
“Oh, worry not. I dare to speak my mind.” Alex replied with a charming smile. His nonchalant and ariable demeanor only fueled Sasha’s fury.
Alex turned his head, and as his gaze met Ariana’s, his smile faded and was replaced with a scowl
“Oh, hello, Miss Blake! How is your leg? Well, since you claimed that Serene pushed you down the stairs before. I would suggest being careful. My wife is a bit temperamental these days
“Who knows? She might accidentally push you down again” Alex finished with a disdainful snori.
Ariana clenched her fist and gritted her teeth. She had to find a way to get rid of Serenity for good.
“Child! I understand that you are venting for Serenity. So I won’t hold your words against you. However, there will not be next time. The Williams family may have made mistakes with Serenity, but we will not tolerate anyone insulting us in front of our employees.” Old Madam Williams stated with a stern expression.
Instead of getting angry, Alex burst into maniacal laughter. After his outburst, he gave a mocking bow.
“Of course, of course! Only the Williams family can intimidate someone in broad daylight. Alex retorted with a sneer.

“You” Sasha tried to reply, but her husband restrained her once again.
When Serenity saw that things were getting out of hand, she took Alex’s hand and motioned to leave.
“Enough, Alex! Let’s just go.” She said firmly.
“Leave? Why? Are we not meant to work here?” Alex inquired with confusion.
“I suppose we are not welcome.” Serenity said, casting one last glance at Sébastien.
Like magic, their eyes met, and for a moment, they were lost in each other’s gazes once again.
Serenity’s gaze was broken as she saw Ariana stand beside Sebastien, clearly claiming him as her own. She turned to leave with Alex, but suddenly, Sébastien’s firm and warm grip returned to her wrist.
Both she and Alex were surprised to see Sébastien holding onto Serenity’s wrist. “Mr. Williams! What is the meaning of this? Release my wife’s hand!” Alex demanded with a hard tone, his previous smile gone.
But Sébastien pretended not to hear him and continued to gaze at Serenity, who was scowling in response. “Since you came here to work, how can I let you leave just like that?” Sébastien boldly stated, winking at her and taking her breath away.
The man was undeniably handsome, and his smile made his face even more dazzling. In a daze, Serenity didn’t realize that Sébastien was pulling her towards the VIP elevator until another man grabbed her other hand, snapping her back to reality.
She saw the two men holding onto her, glaring at each other. Serenity was furious. She tried to free her hand, but Sébastien refused to let go.
“Let go of
my hand, Mr. Williams. What do you intend to do? Haven’t you and your family already embarrassed me enough today? Just let me go. I’ve already offered to pay the penalty for canceling the contract. What more do you want?”
Sebastian simply smiled at her and replied. I will never let you go again, Serenity. Now that you’re back, you’re back for good.” His shameless declaration shocked everyone present. Was he trying to reignite his relationship with his ex–wife?
Upon hearing Sébastien’s words, Alex rushed to his side and attempted to pry Serenity’s hand from his grip. But his efforts were in vain, as Sébastien held onto her tightly, refusing to let go.
The two men continued to glare at each other, neither one willing to back down.
In a sudden moment, Serenity grimaced, diverting the attention of the two men back to her. Her face contorted in pain.
Sebastian then realized his tight grip on her hand and the evident hurt he was causing. Unable to bear the sight of her agony, he immediately released her hand.
“Did I hurt you? Are you okay? I’m sorry I hurt you!” Sébastien apologized in a fluster, but Serenity just glared coldly at him.
It was at this moment that Mark came rushing down the stairs, his shirt drenched in sweat.
Only God knows how he made it to the ground floor with such speed after hearing the commotion. He feared his boss‘ wrath and hurried to the scene.
But it was too late. Upon seeing his boss” angered expression, Mark trembled and sheepishly walked towards him, head down.
“I–I’m sorry, boss. I didn’t know what was happening here,” he stammered.
Of course, he wouldn’t know. He works on the last floor of the building. How could he possibly know what was unfolding below?
Sebastian simply stared at him with no emotion and pointed to the rude receptionist who had caused the disturbance for Serenity.
“Get yourself busy and remove that person from my company immediately!” He ordered coldly.
“Yes, boss!” Mark breathed a sigh of relief when his boss didn’t unleash his anger on him. He quickly signaled for the security team to escort the receptionist out of the building.
Realizing the severity of her actions, the receptionist wanted to apologize and run to Serenity’s side, but the guards swiftly.

whisked her away amid her pleas and cries.
The rest of the employees were now trembling in fear.
“Let this serve as a warning to all of you. Be rude to her, and you can consider yourself fired!” Sebastian addressed the employees coldly, gesturing towards Serenity.
Serenity couldn’t help but roll her eyes. She didn’t even want to waste her time acknowledging him.
The Williams family stood there in silence, fully aware that this was not the time to act out. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief once the commotion caused by the receptionist had died down, hoping for the calm to return.
Their assumptions couldn’t have been more mistaken. In one swift motion, Sebastian knelt down and lifted Serenity, carrying her in his arms as they entered the VIP elevator.
“SÉBASTIEN!!!” Serenity and both Sasha and Ariana cried out in shock at the sight before them.
Old Madam Williams and Harris exchanged a knowing look, wishing that Sébastien and Serenity could find a way to be together once again.
On the other hand, Gwen couldn’t take her eyes off of Alex since his arrival at the company. His striking features and toned physique left her breathless. She had completely forgotten about Serenity’s presence, consumed by her own desire to have Alex for herself.
Ignoring the gasps and whispers from behind him, Sébastien’s focus was solely on the petite woman in his arms, screaming and cursing at him to let her go.
With a content smile, he said nothing and just held her close. Only God knew how overjoyed the fact that he was finally having her in his embrace after all this years.
Just as the elevator doors were about to close, a hand blocked it, revealing an angry Alex glaring at Sébastien.

“Mr. Williams, you’ve gone too far!” Alex seethed, his face twisted in fury. It was clear that his anger was reaching its breaking point
“Alex?” Serenity called, seeing her friend in such a ferocious state..
