Chapter 18
After careful deliberation, Serenity and Alex reached a conclusion regarding the young employee they find suspicious. They pondered if there were any chance that the employee might flee if they were to give themselves away and confront him.
Turning her attention back to Sebastian, he inquired impatiently if they were done with their discussion. Serenity snorted coldly at his presence and question.
She was frustrated that all his attention was on her, while Alex stood by her side and did nothing.
Gwen snorted coldly at Serenity. She just couldn’t understand why her brother was holding her in high esteem.
Sebastian coldly reminded his sister that she was not obligated to stay there if she felt useless. He was getting increasingly agitated with his family’s constant annoyance. Can’t they just give him peace for once?

Turning to Alex, Serenity asked for his thoughts on the matter. They agreed that without any concrete evidence, they could not accuse anyone. They needed to be cautious and not reveal their plans, in case the culprit fled. That will be their lost.
Alex suggested interrogating each employee, as there could be other individuals involved, possibly even other spies within the
company.
Serenity agreed and turned her attention back to Sebastian, making eye tact with him. She couldn’t help but feel a sense of discomfort, as she had always imagined how their reunion would play out with confrontation, anger, and perhaps even hatred. But in this moment, it was just awkward. And moreover, Sébastien keeps on behaving strangely around her.
There existed no animosity between them, only a camaraderie remained. Both of them acted normally, with no signs of tension or whatsoever between them.
Serenity was unsure of what was going on in Sebastian’s mind. Why was he treating her differently now? Was it because of her success in life? She just couldn’t figure him out wuth his change of attitude towards her.
As for Sébastien, this was the happiest day in his life. He was content with simply being in Serenity’s presence again.
The
mere thought of her being together with another man made his heart ache. He knew he had no right to demand anything from her, having divorced her and pushed her away.
So in his opinion, Serenity has every right to reject him and choose someone she wanted and it hurt him like hell.
But Sebastian was not ready to give up on her and his newfound love for her. After all these years of searching and waiting, she was finally back.
He had to have her, even if it meant fighting for her and fighting against the whole world, he still have to get her back.
Her happiness was all that mattered to him and he was willing to give her all the happiness in the world.
He gazed at Serenity with intense love and adoration making her feel more uncomfortable.
She was taken aback by his sudden display of affection, as she was not used to seeing this sade of Sebastian.
Despite his smile being beautiful which could met any woman’s heart, Serenity would always prefer the poker face of him.
His blue eyes were the end of her life, and she couldn’t imagine being with anyone else back then and even now. The man smiling in front of her had taken her heart years back and even now,
“Mr. Williams, could you please stop acting like a toddler and focus on why we’re here?” she said, trying to bring him back to reality.
Sebastian shook himself out of his daze and gave her one of his charming smiles again.
Serenity couldn’t help but be charmed by him once again. As much as she found him annoying sometimes, Sebastian’s smile was like no other, which could make her heart race beat faster than she very wanted.

Chapter 18
“Can we have a private conversation, please!” Serenity asked, gesturing for them to move away from the crowd.
Sebastian happily agreed, finally getting the chance to talk to Serenity alone. He gave Alex a cheeky smile before walking behind Serenity and stood not so far away from the rest.
Alex shook his head, finding Sebastian’s behavior to be childish yet amusing. How could have thought the almighty Sébastien Williams, CEO of MPK company would be lime this when he’s in love.
In their solitary moments, Sebastian and Serenity seemed to have an unresolved issue.
“What is it Serene? Did you find anything suspicious or beneficial?” Sébastien asked in a low voice. He knew the reson why Serenity asked him aside was about the company’s issue.
“Yes, we did discover something peculiar about the young employee in the light green shirt. He appears to be acting suspiciously,” Serenity calmly informed, her arms crossed firmly in front of her chest. This has become a habit of hers ever since she became a lawyer.
Sebastian was about to turn and observe the employee in question, but Serenity swiftly grabbed his head and held it in place, preventing him from doing so.
Was Sébastien crazy? How could he do something stupid like that?
Gasps could be heard from the sudden and unexpected interaction. Even Serenity seemed shocked at her own actions.
The way she was holding his head could have easily been misinterpreted as a romantic gesture.
Sebastian couldn’t help but be amused. He wished time would stand still so he could bask in the warmth of her soft hand on his face. Her sweet scent filled his nostrils, tempting him to bury his face in her neck and inhale her like a wolf in heat.
How could he have let such an incredible woman slip through his fingers? Was he blind or simply foolish? Indeed, he was the most stupid man in earth.
Ariana couldn’t contain her frustration any longer. She marched over to Serenity and forcefully pulled her hands away from Sebastian’s face with a livid face.
She was seething with anger and wanted nothing more than to crush Serenity with both her words and hands.
But when she saw the cold, piercing glare Sebastian was giving her, she clenched her fists and suppressed her fury
However, she couldn’t resist making a cutting remark. “Miss Morgan, or whatever your name may be, Sebastian is my fiancé. 1 would appreciate it if you were more mindful of your actions in the future. In case you have forgotten, he is your ex–husband and now my future husband. So please, show some restraint,” Ariana boldly stated, not caring what Sebastian would say: All she wanted was to vent her anger on the damn woman I’m front of her. How could she even come back to destroy her family?
Ariana’s statement had left Serenity feeling perplexed. What did she mean by “be mindful of your actions? Did Ariana think she was trying to flirt with Sébastien or what? How in the world could she even think of such a thing after what she and the man in question did to her? Was Ariana crazy or just blinded by her insecurity?
