Serenity fixed her gaze upon the young employee, who had regained his composure. He smiled and even smiled at Serenity, making sure he didn’t give himself away.
Serenity really admired his confidence as she kept looking at him, hoping her gaze could penetrte his inner thoughts.
To the onlookers, nothing seemed amiss. Everything looked amicably between the two. Had it not been Serenity’s earlier sudden question, which threw everyone off guard, the rest might think the young employee had met Serenity before based on the lond smile he’s showing her.
However, Serenity, Sébastien, and Alex had already reached a conclusion about him. They’ve already realized the cause of what his earlier panicked might be.
If he was truly a spy, selling the company’s information and possibly involved in the current crisis, Sébastien would not let him go unpunished.
He will make him pay alongside anyone who is also involved.
When his grandfather left the company to him at the young age before his death, Sébastien and did all his beat and put in much effort to let the company keep growing and reaching the highest
Now that everything seemed to be falling before his own eyes, how could he not punish the people beside it?
Serenity continued to stare at the employee intently for what seemed like infinity before nodding her head and allowing him to leave.
“You may leave?” She ordered without any emotion.
The young employee stood up and bowed lightly to her before leaving with a hint of smirk at the corner of his lips.
Unbeknownst to him, both Serenity and Sébastien saw his smirk.
Of course, Alex also saw it but kept it cool. He didn’t want to interfere now. That wasn’t his specialty.
The sudden turn of events surprised everyone. Weren’t Serenity’s initial investigations of this man more aggressive? What caused the sudden change in her demeanor? Why did she suddenly allow him to leave without questioning him further?
To those around, she actually didn’t ask the boy anything as she did with the rest. But why?
Only Alex and Sébastien knew the true intentions behind Serenity’s actions. She wasn’t a fool. She did not want to alert the enemy of their suspicion. Therefore, she had to downplay them for now.
There’s time for everything, and definitely, this wasn’t the right time.
After the young employee left to rejoin his coworkers, Serenity also rose from her seat, ready to leave. There was somewhere she needed to be and didn’t want to waste anymore time.
Moreover, the last thing she wanted was for Sasha and Gwen to start bickering with her like kids
“Wait!” Sébastien called out suddenly, reaching out to grasp her elbow as fast as he could.
Serenity stopped in her tracks. She slowly turned around to meet him. Her eyes immediately fell upon Sébastien’s hand, which was holding her elbow. She then raised her gaze to meet his with a frown Just what’s wrong with him
“What’s come over you today, Mr. Williams? Why do you insist on touching me without my consent with every chance your get? Dont you think it’s inappropriate?” Serenity questioned with a furrowed brow. She was starting to feel more irritated with -this handsome ex–husband hers.
Her frown and manner of looking at Sébastien made him feel uneasy. He couldn’t help but wonder how much she truly despised him. Would he ever be able to win her back?
He regrets his actions and wants to win her back. But looming at the current situation, will that day ever come.
