Chapter 14:
Emma spent the weekend updating her resume, hoping to find suitable work quickly.
She planned to stay in London permanently, starting as a brand designer and slowly building her own independent studio.
After careful consideration, she decided to keep the baby.
She could raise a child on her own, without James’s involvement..

On Monday, Emma went to her hospital appointment. Everything was normal, and
the doctor prescribed some medication.
Emma sat outside the clinic with her prescriptions, trying to book a ride.
As she rested with closed eyes, an ominous feeling crept over her.
She sensed someone watching her intently from the shadows, making her skin
crawl.
Emma looked toward the clinic entrance and saw a familiar figure.
The man wore a black coat Emma had commissioned from her designer friend –
one of a kind, belonging to James.
Emma jumped up from her chair.
Just then, James turned, meeting her eyes.
Emma instinctively ran.
She didn’t dare stop or look back, ignoring strange looks as she ducked into a
bathroom around the corner.
Leaning against the wall, she struggled to catch her breath.
James was in London?
When he’d messaged from his fake account, she’d joked about him coming to
London.
But he’d not only come he’d found her at the hospital.
–
Why would he be at a hospital anyway?
Emma suspected James must have found her prenatal report back home.
She took a deep breath, trying to stay calm.
The bathroom’s thin walls carried James’s familiar voice.

He was asking someone if they’d seen a petite Asian woman in a camel coat.
Emma looked down at her camel coat.
Great. James had definitely seen her and was certain it was her.
Hearing the negative response, James was clearly disappointed.
He knew he hadn’t been wrong – the woman at the clinic was Emma, but she’d
vanished in an instant.
Since landing in London, he’d done nothing but stake out hospitals, nearly getting
thrown out as a stalker.
After three days, he’d finally found Emma, only to lose her again.
Frustrated, James punched the wall, drawing blood.
Security heard the commotion and quickly pinned him down.
“We’ve seen you lurking around for days,” the guard said menacingly. “We suspect you’re up to no good. Save your story for the police!”
James couldn’t defend himself as security dragged him away.
Emma finally dared leave the bathroom.
She stared at the blood on the wall, still shaken.
She didn’t know if James had come all this way to reconcile or for revenge.
Was this how their lifelong relationship would end – in violence?
Emma returned home dazed, opening her phone to find her mother’s message bombardment.
“Emma, I’ll call the police if you don’t respond! You’re not acting like a proper woman – running away at the first sign of trouble! Can’t get pregnant and now throwing tantrums!”
“James told us you ran away and want a divorce? We raised such an ungrateful daughter!”
Emma finally snapped back: Don’t want me? Fine! You only ever cared about my brother anyway, never about my happiness! If you don’t like me, just let me go! After a while, her mother only replied: “Just wait. If I can’t handle you, your brother will.”
