However, just as I’d reached the door to the ward, Colton blocked my way out. His complexion was deathly pale, reminding me of a vampire.
“Gianna, don’t misunderstand. I have no such intentions.”
I rubbed my temples and said, “Aren’t you both a match made in heaven? And you love her to death. It would be better for you both to be together.”
“But that’s not real! I know that I made some rash decisions in the past that must have made you upset, but I didn’t mean them!
“I’m only just taking care of Darlene now because we used to date. I can’t cut her off completely from my life. It’s too extreme for me.
“If you don’t like it, I’ll hire a nanny to care for her starting tomorrow. I won’t find her again! Gianna, we’ve been married for ten years. Don’t you trust me, even just a little bit?”
Colton grabbed me by my hands and kept shaking me as he spoke, getting more and more agitated. His rough voice attracted the attention of a few passing nurses, and I could see they were debating if they should tell him to tone it down.
I slapped Colton’s hands away and rubbed my wrists where he’d rubbed them raw.
“Colton Skye, can you stop throwing a fit? I’m a very busy person. I don’t have time to care about you!”
The first time I caught sight of him being handsy and intimate with Darlene at work, I nearly lost my mind and barged into his office to kick up a huge fuss.
Colton hadn’t bothered explaining anything then. He just got the security guards to drag
me away.
