“Ooo, Emelia! I didn’t think you were capable of being a mean girl!” Alexis laughed over the phone. “Lily had to have been furious when she came back to the house to see all her stuff gone!”

Yesterday with Victor turned out to be the best one I’d had with him in a very long time. It was like we were actually married again. Not to mention, it felt amazing to have him appreciate me again.
“Did Victor ever apologize to you by the way?”
“He’s been making it up to me, yes.” I smiled. “Victor really isn’t a bad person. His heart’s just too big and he’s so ridden with guilt with what happened to Lily all those years ago. Plus, it’s not like they had sex or anything. He loves me, even if he does seem to prioritize Lily a little more than what I’m comfortable with. But… I think I can handle it.”
“Well… As long as you’re happy,” Alexis didn’t seem too convinced, but she was supportive of me nonetheless.” Just remember to put Lily in her place. Honestly, I think you just try and get rid of her, but that’s just me.”
Suddenly, a loud crashing noise busted through my door, which made me immediately hang up on Alexis,
“I’m sorry, Emelia…” Miranda was at the door, and out of breath. “I tried to stop her!”
Truthfully, I’d expected this to some degree. After what happened yesterday between Lily and Victor, I knew it was a matter of time until she’d come find me.
To be honest, I’d expected her to follow us to at least one of the stores yesterday.

Miranda gave me a worried look, but did as she was told anyway.
I didn’t need another scene at work–especially if Lily was going to attempt to air out all this drama in front of my
colleagues.
“What kind of woman tries to break up such an important relationship between two people who are so close to one another, him? Why would you try to come in between me and Victor?!” Lily raised her voice as she hurled wild. accusations at me.
“What you’re not going to do is to barge in my office like you own it, and slander me.” I tried to keep my voice calm. “If anything, you’re coming in between me and my husband.
“Stop pretending! It’s not like Victor’s here anyway! You think you won just because you manipulated him into not helping me out of the hospital yesterday? Don’t you have any idea how important I am?!” Lily took a step
towards me.
“Stop talking to me like that if you know what’s good for you!” I snapped back, unable to control my rising anger. “Look in the mirror if you want to talk about being manipulative!”
