Victor, please listen to me. I wasn’t the cause of her injury; Talicho!
“Let me take her to the hospital first, Bun” Victor interrupted. “I just need to make sure her leg injury hasn’t gotten any worse.”
Even though he didn’t mean it, his voice felt so cold when he said those wonds.
“Please don’t do this… Why are you changing for her again? What happened to all we talked about yesterday The sadness and disappointment welled in my chest as my words trembled. It was becoming almost overwhelming
Victor hesitated to take another step forward as he heard my words. Conflict flashed though his eyes, even as he kept glancing down at Lily’s leg
I tried to understand that Victor was simply holding onto such guilt because of what happened to Lily all those years ago. But I didn’t understand why he let it interfere with our relationship so much.
He was still the same kind and caring man I married; that hadn’t changed. Even after yesterday’s talk, Lould tell he wanted to choose to be with me now.
But it seemed that his guilt was too heavy of a bonden to simply just release

Please open the dorm, Em. I promise I won’t be long.” He tied to reassure me with a weak smile.
Tears welled in my eyes but I held them back. I opened the door as I watched him walk out with Lily comfortably settling in his arms
And even though he didn’t seem to buy her blaming me for what happened, the fragile confidence built was once again shattered because of her.
As I looked out and saw our colleagues who were standing around, their whispering words courted to me still
“Are Victor and Lily a couple?”
“Look at how sweet he is handling her so gently ”
I wanted to shout out the truth that Victor was my husbat Hat after all this time of working here and no one knowing, I had no prof. It just would’ve made me look a spiteful, crazy woman had I said anything:

Chapter 28- An Injured Mind‘
Suddenly, a sharp pain seized my neck and it made me stagger back.
One of my colleagues seemed to notice as they ran up to me. “Your neck! It’s bleeding, miss! Someone call the paramedics!”
I didn’t even realize how hurt I’d actually gotten. Did Victor not notice anything either? Or did he simply not care?
I was ushered back into my office and urged to take a seat. The mess Lily left in the wake of her attack was a resemblance of how my mind felt. After a few minutes, an EMS personnel arrived at my office with a first–aid kit and got me cleaned up.
“I’m giving you some antibiotic cream for you to put on for when you need to change your bandage dressing.” The nice paramedic smiled. “Even in big cities like this, you have to be careful of wild animal attacks.”
I smiled back, but said nothing else. Even though it wasn’t an animal that attacked me, it sure as hell felt like one did.
Suddenly, a knock sounded on the door. I wasn’t expecting anyone.
“Come in.” I told the stranger anyway.
A young man stood at the doorway, wearing a nice brown suit and recently shined leather shoes.
I definitely hadn’t seen him before. Was he a new hire?
“I’m sorry to intrude, but I was told to arrive at this building for a meeting?”
I silently thanked the paramedic as they gathered their things and left. Once I was left alone with the strange man, I raised my eyebrow at him.
“Is there something I can help you with?”
“Do you know who Mr. Russo is?”
I hesitated to answer, but only for a split second. As much as I wanted to admit that he was my husband, I had to remember that I still had a charade of my own to keep up while I was at work.
“Oh, yes, he’s the CEO of this company.” I answered.
The man’s smile was wide. “Perfect! Sorry, for not introducing myself earlier; I just wanted to make sure I was in the right place. I go by Simon, and I’m an old friend of Victor’s!”
