Chapter 4
“Here comes the groom!”
“That’s Mr. Russell!”
I turned my head and stared in astonishment at the person beside me. I blinked a few times, trying to wrap my mind around it. Then, I saw Benjamin’s poker face, devoid of any emotion.
He glared at me, but strangely, it was like a comforting blanket; á sense of security grew in my heart.
Benjamin flicked his tongue in disdain, surveyed his surroundings with a haughty glance, and let out a snarky chuckle. “Natalie, I warned you before that you had a very terrible taste in choosing men.”
Lucas and Jessica stepped forward and caught sight of Benjamin’s arrival. Suddenly, Lucas‘ face dropped.
Jessica’s face twisted in momentary disgust as she’d bitten into a sour apple. She circled around me and stuck her tongue out at Benjamin. “Benjamin, it’s nice to see you here. I thought you hated Ms. Hanks. After all, you once said you couldn’t stand women who were as vain as a peacock and greedy as a wolf.”
After hearing this, Benjamin’s grip on my stiff waist tightened like a vice. “Indeed, my tastes haven’t changed a bit.”

When I heard that, a pang of disappointment hit me like a ton of bricks.
Jessica looked satisfied after realizing Benjamin still hated me. Just as she was about to continue, Benjamin shoved her aside with a sweep of his arm, saying, “You’re standing in the way of my wife and me.”
After hearing his words about me, a bell rang loudly in my mind.
Lucas stepped in to stop Benjamin, narrowing his eyes meaningfully. “Mr. Russell, you’re about to marry Natalic.”
Benjamin gave him a casual once–over. Suddenly, the tension was thicker than peanut butter.
“I’m the groom. I don’t need you to remind me of who my bride is. Mr. Blunt, are you trying to steal my bride? In front of… um… your Jessica here?” Benjamin said, with a hint of sarcasm.
Lucas was stunned, his eyes locked onto mine.
Jessica secretly pinched his arm. He snapped out of it, shrugged, and continued with a nonchalant air, “No, of course not. I just wanted to remind you, Mr. Russell, to know exactly what kind of woman you’re marrying. Don’t cry over spilled milk later.”
Benjamin lowered his head and chuckled, his eyes twinkling with mischief, “I won’t regret it. I’m over the moon now.
now.”
After saying that, he took my hand and gazed at me intensely.

“Natalie, will you marry me?” Benjamin asked, with a spark in his eye.
I raised my head and looked into his deep, penetrating eyes. In Lucas‘ eyes, I was marrying a man who’d come to regret it. In Benjamin’s heart, I might just be a vain gold–digger.
I scanned the crowd of onlookers and nodded. “I do.”
As soon as the words left my lips, Lucas let out a disbelief–laden roar. “Natalie!”
Benjamin led me away, turning on our heels, and the onlookers behind us gasped in shock.
“Jesus, he’s leaving with her!”
“Today’s the big day when Russell Group and Muse Group sign a cooperation agreement. Mr. Russell actually came to steal all the attention from Lucas at his wedding. Oh my god. He’s so
handsome!”
