Camilla, still slapping her own face, froze for a moment, staring at me with confusion.
Declan, who had been listening, immediately panicked.
“No! I can’t stand this any longer! I can’t live like this for even another minute! Come on, hurry up and switch me back now–no waiting for 30 days!”
I ignored him and kept my eyes on Camilla.
“I will switch you back, and I will divorce him,” I said calmly. “But you need to think carefully. What’s the best way to protect yourself right now? You’re not stupid, so think about it. Take your time.”
As Declan, still processing what was happening, began to retreat, Camilla’s eyes suddenly lit up with realization.
She looked at me, gave a slight smile, then turned to Declan. Her smile grew wider and more exaggerated by the second.
Then, Camilla, with an almost mocking tone, said the words I’d been leading her to.
“Before you switch me back, I want a divorce. I won’t take a single penny!”
Declan stood there, stunned, as it hit him: I had meant that the 30 days weren’t about waiting, but about setting up the divorce. And he now understood why Camilla had suddenly smiled at him.
He rushed forward, hand raised, trying to cover Camilla’s mouth.
“Stop! What are you talking about? A divorce and leaving with nothing? What nonsense are you saying!”
Camilla grabbed his hand away with force, twisting it back in his direction. She squeezed tightly.
“Still thinking about getting revenge once our bodies are switched back, huh? Before I switch it back, I’ll make sure you have nothing. Let’s see how you plan to get your revenge then!”
Declan, his hand now sore and with sweat dripping down his face, struggled to pull his arm free. He looked at Camilla, then back at me.
After a moment of consideration, he realized that whether or not he ended up with nothing hinged on Camilla.
Grabbing his throbbing hand, Declan forced a smile and leaned closer to Camilla, whispering something into her ear.

But Camilla wasn’t having it.
“You still think you can fool me? I saw you for what you were the moment you refused to pay back my debt! All those sweet words you spoke–empty promises. When it came to action, you couldn’t even make a move! I just want both of us to go down together. A man like you
doesn’t deserve anything good. You might as well just die!”
Declan tried again, but all he got in return was another slap.
Thirty days passed quickly while we sorted out assets and drafted the agreement.
When we walked out of the clerk’s office with the divorce certificate, I pulled up the system and swapped their souls back.
In an instant, the smug look on Declan’s face was replaced with a scowl, his whole body radiating anger.
I watched in confusion as he hurried into a nearby store, grabbing Camilla by the arm.
Did he bring Camilla’s body here today, knowing I would switch things back, so he could. take his revenge?
After dragging Camilla out, Declan grabbed her by the neck and started slapping her face, one slap after another.
At first, Camilla struggled, panicking. But after a few slaps, she suddenly stopped fighting and, to my surprise, started laughing.
She pointed at Declan with a mocking grin.
“Look at you now–what’s left for you? Ha! You’re just as miserable as me!”
Declan froze, his hand mid–swing, his body trembling slightly.
He took a deep breath, gathering strength, and then swung with even more force.
He got his anger out in front of everyone at the clerk’s office, and unsurprisingly, he was arrested.
With no family or close friends in town besides me and his girlfriend, his parents rushed over to pay his bail and bring him back.
They had no idea we were already divorced. When they brought Declan back to our place, I realized he hadn’t even bothered explaining the situation to them.
It seemed like he thought I might soften toward his parents, even if I didn’t care about him.
But his wishful thinking didn’t pan out.
When I saw Declan and his parents knocking on the door, I scrolled through my phone.
