13 Chapter 13: 1 Hold You
A chaotic atmosphere.
After the calm, the woman in the hospital bed received an injection and was finally able to sleep.
soundly.
James Thompson, having done a good deed, went to wash his hands.
He looked at his slender fingers and silently chuckled.
Julia Land slowly opened her eyes and smelled the disinfectant of the hospital.
She heard a man lowering his voice to speak.
Once she collected herself, she turned her head and saw a man quietly making a phone call by the window not far away.
His voice was extremely hoarse, but what he discussed carried a hint of coldness, “Make sure he
spends his life in prison.”
Trevor Sullivan laughed on the other end of the phone, “James Thompson, you’re actually getting angry over a woman. That’s not like you.”
“Possessed by a ghost, James said lazily, his words tinged with sarcasm, “I should find a high monk to chant some scriptures someday”
“Sure, I’ll handle it!” Trevor declared enthusiastically.
James, sensing someone watching him, turned his head and saw the lady on the hospital bed staring at him with wide, bewildered eyes.
His lips slightly curled and he immediately hung up on his friend.
“You’re awake.”
Julia wished she could remain unconscious for a while longer.
Her mind hazily recalled last night’s events.
He… he had actually helped… helped ease…
Julia’s cheeks flushed, and she closed her eyes, pulling the blanket over her head with both
hands.
No, I’m not awake.
I’m dying.
James raised an eyebrow, walked to the bedside, and looked at the woman hiding under the covers, “What are you hiding from? Come out.
Julia genuinely played dead.
Too awkward.

After a while, she thought she heard someone opening the door to leave.
Julia then slowly peeked out from under the blanket, and the instant she did, she saw James standing beside her bed with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile.
“Dr. Thompson, what a coincidence”
She pretended not to remember last night.
As long as she didn’t mention it, he wouldn’t know that she remembered her reckless actions from the night before.
James opened a thermos, gave her a meaningful look, and said, “Get up and have some chicken soup.”
He had just stepped out to get the chicken soup.
She sat up, her hair cascading over her shoulders, her beautiful face looking somewhat silly. Her voice hoarse, she asked, “Dr. Thompson, how come you’re here working as a doctor?”
A white coat still adorned him.
James, dragging out his tone lazily arched his eyebrows, “Why aren’t you calling me uncle anymore?”
Julia, ears reddening, calmly replied, “Uncle.”
James tugged the corners of his lips, chuckling.
She called, and her stomach immediately growled in response.
Others in the hospital had family and friends to care for them.
She was still all alone, looking rather pitiful.
The thermos James had opened wafted out the aroma of chicken soup, enticingly fragrant.
“This is chicken soup made from free–range chicken; drink this to settle your stomach first. Let me know if you want something else to eat.”
He set a still–steaming bowl of chicken soup on her bedside table.
Julia, not expecting him to have prepared chicken soup for her since they were not very close, said, “Thank you.”
If it hadn’t been for him saving her last night, she might have dragged Wesley Turner with her to hell.
Noah Quarter could be ruthless.
James, seeing her embarrassed, laughed teasingly, “This chicken cost a hundred yuan; remember to transfer me the money.”
Julia nodded crisply, “Okay”
She carefully got out of bed, avoiding touching the wound on her left hand, but her legs went soft and she nearly knelt down.

Julia,

Her legs so weak.
Her face so hot.
Fortunately, James steadied her.
“I’ll carry you there.
He knew she needed to go to the restro
to freshen up.
Being carried in his arms, Julia instantly recalled her foolish act from the night before.
She had bitten him.
Julia tried to remain composed as she thanked him, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, just don’t bite me, James said casually and teasingly.
Julia,
Being ever helpful, James even squeezed toothpaste onto her toothbrush for her, “Brush, I’m holding you.”
Julia had regained a bit of strength, but her body was still weak.
Wesley Turner’s medication was potent.
She didn’t waste words and rinsed her mouth and brushed her teeth.
Seeing her long hair in disarray, James Thompson grabbed a comb and smoothed her hair for her.
He had never imagined.
That one day he would be combing a woman’s hair.
Julia Land paused, then continued grinning as she brushed her teeth.
The woman in the mirror had half of her face slightly swollen from being hit.
It was quite a mess.
Lately, her face was often struck.
She smiled helplessly.
When she needed to use the restroom, James Thompson stepped out.
The sound of dripping water came from the bathroom.
James Thompson, looking normal, took the opportunity to send a message to his friend complaining about him abruptly hanging up.
When Julia Land came out of the bathroom and saw James Thompson waiting outside the door, she felt incredibly embarrassed.
Julia Land sipped the hot chicken soup in small amounts as James Thompson sat on the couch waiting for her to finish before talking about another matter.

“Tomorrow, I will arrange for you to have an abortion.”
Julia Land wiped the corner of her mouth and said softly, “Okay.”
James Thompson was silent for a moment, “The medication you drank last night was found to be
extremely harmful to the fetus, I’m sorry!”
Julia Land shook her head, tugged at the
er of her mouth, “You saved me, there’s nothing to
be sorry about, the child… was going to be terminated anyway.”
“Do you have my cell number saved?” James Thompson took out his phone, eyes lowered toward Julia Land, “As a gesture of courtesy, give me your number too.”
“Oh, alright.” Julia Land recited her cell number to James Thompson.
“Let’s add each other on WeChat, so you can reach out to me anytime if you need help.
“Okay.”
Julia Land looked for her phone.
James Thompson opened the bedside cabinet and handed her a pink phone.
“Thank you.”
Julia Land opened her WeChat and let him scan the QR code.
James Thompson saw the pear picture on her WeChat, which was quite cute. He leaned down, staring into her eves, and said again, “If you need anything in the future, feel free to contact me.”
Julia Land smelled the scent of disinfectant on the white coat the man was wearing and oddly didn’t find it unpleasant.
She smiled, “Doctor Thompson, may I treat you to a meal sometime?”
“Sure, I have more outpatient work later, text me if you want to eat anything else!”
Julia Land nodded, “Yes, thank you.”
James Thompson looked at his watch, a bit concerned, “Should I find a caregiver to stay with you?”
“No need.
She wasn’t seriously injured.
Seeing that she had drunk the chicken soup and her complexion had regained some color, James Thompson decided not to insist and prepared to leave for work.
Just as he left the sickroom, his WeChat notified him of a new message.
He checked and saw that Julia Land had transferred him one hundred yuan for the chicken soup. and had also sent a “nice guy” card.
James Thompson smiled.
Julia Land looked down at her phone, replying to a message from her best friend abroad, then scrolled down to find Noah Quarter’s profile and called him.
13 Chapter 13: 1 Hold You
The call was answered quickly.
Julia Land coldly asked, “Where is Little Violet? Can you tell me now?”
Noah Quarter put down his coffee, his voice chilly, “Julla Land, how about we talk about another deal, with a term of six months?”
Julia Land clenched her phone, her voice icy, “I will not discuss another deal with you.”
“You will agree. Noah Quarter said calmly, sure of himself, “I have found a suitable bone marrow.”
“What do you mean?”
Julia Land asked hoarsely.
Little Violet had been waiting for suitable bone marrow,
“Suitable for your childhood friend.”
His voice grew colder.
Julia Land thought for a second, her fingers clutching at her hospital gown, “What kind of deal do you want to make?
“First, you return to the Quarter Family and continue as a secretary for six months, and second, pretend in front of our grandmother that we have reconciled.”
Last night, late at night, Mrs. Quarter had a medical crisis.
The doctors had issued a critical condition notice, and although she was revived last night, she had been informed that her time was limited.
That’s also why Julla Land wasn’t at Jade Gardens, and the old lady hadn’t noticed.
Julia Land looked up, concise and clear, “I agree to this deal, but the two of us must first file for divorce, and we can keep it hidden afterward.”
Silence on the other end of the phone.
Julia Land heard Noah Quarter faintly respond, “Agreed.”
Outside the half–closed study.
Arabella Shaw was holding a fruit plate.
She happened to appear outside the study just as Noah Quarter invited Julia Land to return to the Quarter Family as a secretary.
Arabella Shaw bit her red lips, her beautiful eyes filled with unwillingness and malice. Co
Julia Land!
