Chapter 37
Melody was practically bursting with excitement, shaking her arm in delight. “Lexi, you’re in second place! Did you see? Second place!”
Alexia mapped out of her dare and nodded. “Yeah, 1 sawit.”
Across from them, Hailey seemed on the verge of losing it. She clenched her lists tightly, her eyes blazing with fury.
“Didn’t you all say Led would be out to see? What now? How’s that for a reality check? Melody said, a smug smile on her face.
“You’re in third place, and you’re still mocking Lex? You’re ranked even lower than her!” she added.
Bailey’s face flushed with cap. “You old hag Try saying that again
Melody was about to snag back, but Alexia grabbed her arm, stopping her.
Alexia knew Hailey too well. She was sneaky, manipulative, and always seeking revenge. If Melody kept defending her, Hailey would just turn on
next
Having learned Halley’s ways the hard way, Melody immediately realized her mistake when Alexia reminded her. She had acted impulsively and regretted what she had said. She fell silent, stepping back and quietly standing to the side.
Hailey clenched her teeth, fighting to keep her anger in check “Don’t get too full of yourself. It’s only the first round. The finals are still to come. We’ll see who has the last laugh” Ella chimed into “You just got lucky, that’s all”
Alexia wasn’t bothered. She smiled and said, “Go ahead, say whatever you want.”
Ar that moment, a large group walked toward them. Calvin led the group, wearing a black coat that reached his knees. His tall, confident posture stood out, drawing the attention of everyone
The moment Asia looked up, she saw Calvin Hailey, on the other hand, immediately locked her gaze on him. He was so string that she couldn’t look away!
As he moved doser, his presence seemed to take over the room, making the atmosphere feel heavier.
“Good morning, Mr. Reed” Several people greeted him in unison.
Calvin nodded before stopping in his tracks. His gaze shifted to Hailey, and he spoke in a low voice. “Well done. Keep it up”
‘T–Thank you, Mr. Reed. Hailey stammered, overwhelmed, her words barely escaping her lips.
Without a second glance, he turned and walked away, as if he hadn’t even noticed Alexia.
A belel pang of disappointment hit Alexia, but it was gone almost as quickly as it came, replaced by a mocking smile
There was no reason to feel let down. Hailey was his precious latie sweetheart, while she was just a substitute, occupying a place that didn’t belong to her.
Hailey couldn’t believe what had just happened. She almost thought she was dreaming and asked, “Did Mr. Reed really just compliment me?”
Ella, consumed by envy and jealousy, looked at Hailey with a mix of emotions
At that moment, she almost started to belave Hailey’s claim that she was the future daughter–in–law of the Reed family.
