Elliott couldn’t stop lecturing. “Ally is a good girl. She’s been devoted to you all these years.
“It’s one thing when you were younger, but now you’re married. No matter how you feel about Abbie, keep your distance from her. Focus on your life with Ally.”
Shane lifted his head sharply to look at him. “Dad, why do you think there’s something more between me and Abbie? She’s just my sister!”
Elliott gave him a knowing look. “Tell me, do you even still care about Ally? Every time Amber calls, you drop everything and rush to her. You throw aside even the most important things, like your own wedding.”
“That’s because Abbie has poor health. Her life could be in danger at any moment.” Shane tried to explain himself.
“You know exactly what her condition is. If she had an episode, she’d be gone in an instant, and you wouldn’t make it in time.
“Besides, how many times has she claimed she was at death’s door? But she always ends up fine. That trick never fails. If you didn’t care about her, you wouldn’t have left Ally behind.”
It was so obvious that anyone could tell. Shane’s face flushed with embarrassment. “So, you all think I care more about Abbie than Ally?”
“Isn’t it obvious?” Elliott didn’t want to argue with him. “You and Ally grew up together. Being with someone for so long can get tiring.
“I get it if you’re seeking thrill elsewhere. Just make sure you know your limits and manage your marriage. Have a kid with her soon. That’ll make up for it.”
He gave Shane a pat on the shoulder. “Go get Ally back from Gildford. A family works best when it’s together. Plus, Damon’s back and trying to take the family fortune.
“You know how much Dad loves Ally. Do you really want to provoke him at a time like this? Do you want to hand the Lundberg family over to someone else? Think about it.”
Elliott’s words struck Shane like a ton of bricks. He quickly dialed Devon’s number. “Book me at flight to Gildford for tomorrow morning.”
“Right away, Mr. Lundberg.”
“And get all the trending topics about Allison taken down.”
Devon asked, “Since you want Mrs. Lundberg’s removed, do you want Ms. Schultz’s to be taken down as well?”
Even Devon was saying something like that. Furious, Shane shouted, “Do you think Amber’s reputation is more important than my wife’s?”

“No, I just…” Devon was startled. After all, in the past, whenever it came to anything between the two ladies, Shane would always side with Amber.
“If this happens again, pack your things and leave.” With that, Shane hung up the phone.
He seemed lost in thought as if reflecting on whether he really treated me that badly.
At this thought, he dialed my number again, but it was still turned off. For a brief moment, I saw a flicker of guilt in his eyes.
Then, I heard him mutter under his breath, “She’s got such a temper. She’s nothing like Abbie.
If I’d heard that before, I might have been upset. But after everything that had happened, I’d grown numb. I just hoped he’d hurry up and get to Gildford so he could discover my death.
Shane’s phone rang again. It was Devon calling. After his earlier scare, Devon spoke cautiously.
“Mr. Lundberg, I’ve prepared everything for your Gildford trip, but the trending topics have already been taken down.”
“Taken down? By whom?”
“I asked around, and it seems someone from the Lundberg family handled it. All traces of the trending topic were wiped out in no time. They say it cost 50 million dollars in PR fees. Who else but Mr. Lundberg Senior could pull off something like that?”
Shane’s heart sank at those words. There was one other person who could pull this off other than Anthony.
Could it be him?
